MUMBAI– UK-born singer and performer Rameet Sandhu is set to make her reality television debut with Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, a new adventure-based show hosted by Rannvijay Singha that follows urban women as they adapt to life in rural India.
In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Sandhu opened up about the excitement and challenges of stepping far outside her comfort zone. “I don’t think exploring rural life will be too tough,” she said. “I love Indian food whenever I get the chance to eat it—but I don’t know how to cook yet. So I’ll learn everything there. The food will be fresh, and that’s exciting.”
She added that the slower pace and simplicity of village life is something she’s genuinely looking forward to. “We live in cities where everything moves so fast—constant noise, pollution, chaos. But in the village, I expect peace. And the most important thing for me is connecting with the locals. That human connection is what I’m really looking forward to.”
When asked why she said yes to the show, Sandhu explained, “This is actually my very first reality show, and Zeek is such a big name—so honestly, I couldn’t say no. The concept is so unique. I was born in the UK, I live in Dubai, and now I’m heading to a village! That’s a major shift, a huge challenge. But I love taking on challenges.”
Sandhu also shared that she’s been preparing for the transition by learning Hindi and embracing a completely new way of life. “I’m heading into village life now,” she said with a smile. “All I need is the audience’s love and support as I take on this new adventure.”
Chhoriyan Chali Gaon is produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Zee TV and is inspired by the popular Zee Marathi show Jau Bai Gaavat. The series puts urban contestants in a rural setting, tasking them with adapting to the everyday routines and traditions of village life—away from their modern-day comforts. (Source: IANS)
