Two Indian-Origin UMass Amherst Students Die
AMHERST, Mass.— Two students of Indian origin at University of Massachusetts Amherst have died this month, according to a post on the university’s Student Loss and Remembrance page.
The students were identified as Swetha Krishnan and Rhea Veerareddy. No additional details about the circumstances of their deaths were provided by the university. The dates of death were also not announced.
A university spokesperson told INDIA New England News that she could not confirm further information, aside from verifying that Veerareddy was registered as a student at UMass Amherst.
“The death of a student in the campus community is a tragic event and the university is committed to responding with care and support. Grieving family members, friends, faculty, and others who knew the student may all have different needs for support to help cope with the loss and begin the healing process,” says the University’s Loss and Remembrance
Additional information circulating online has focused on Veerareddy. A notice published on MemorialSources.com, which linked to an obituary page, stated:
