Time to look to the future and widen UK-India ties, says Labour’s Sir Keir Starmer

LONDON–India Global Forum is pleased to announce that Sir Keir Starmer, Leader of the Opposition and Leader of the Labour Party, will be opening the 5th annual UK-India Week on 26 June at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London.India Global Forum’s UK-India Week is a five-day series of events that brings together business leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders from India, UK and across the world to discuss and explore opportunities for further collaboration and growth. The event features a series of discussions, keynote speeches, and exclusive networking opportunities.Sir Keir Starmer’s opening address at IGF will be the first comprehensive insight into the Labour leader’s vision of the UK-India relationship, its wider geo-political importance, and how Labour will seek to engage with the world’s largest democracy and fastest growing economy.Sir Keir Starmer said, “I am looking forward to speaking at India Global Forum.  The Labour Party has a long and strong relationship with India which I am very proud of.  The time has now come to look to the future and work on how we can deepen and widen our cooperation in critical areas such as trade and investment, technology and innovation, climate action, diversity and inclusion, and healthcare, the future of work, skills and education – all areas where I see huge scope for mutual benefit.”Commenting on the announcement, Prof. Manoj Ladwa, Founder & Chairman of India Global Forum, said: “I believe its timely that Sir Keir will be opening UK-India Week this year. We are at a critical juncture, and so his participation underscores the importance of the need for a bipartisan approach to the relationship with India.   • 2nd Creative Industries and Cultural Economy Summit at The Nehru Centre (Thursday 29 June)
  • 5th Annual UK-India Awards 2023 at Fairmont Windsor Park (Thursday 29 June)
  • Founders & Funders Forum at Fairmont Windsor Park (Friday 30 June)
