TiE Boston Announces Biotech and Pharma Executive-Entrepreneur Purnanand Sarma as President-Elect

Mr. Sarma will begin his term on July 01, 2024, following six months of working closely with current President Yash Shah.

BOSTON —TiE Boston, one of New England region’s largest and oldest organizations supporting the Massachusetts entrepreneurial ecosystem, announced that biotech and pharma executive-entrepreneur Purnanand Sarma, Ph.D, has been elected as the 14th President of TiE Boston.

Beginning July 1, 2024, Mr. Sarma will serve a two-year term, during which he plans to further build and diversify the role of TiE Boston in elevating entrepreneurship in New England as well as around the globe.

TiE Boston Board Secretary David Barbash announced that charter members in good standing had voted by written ballot, as outlined by TiE Boston bylaws. The free and fair voting process followed several months of hard work by the Search Committee and approval from the Board.

Noting that Mr. Sarma is an entrepreneur who has blazed trails, Yash Shah, current TiE Boston President said, “We warmly welcome Purnanand Sarma to the Board as President Elect, and look forward to leveraging his expertise in furthering our mission of fostering entrepreneurship in Massachusetts.”

Mr. Sarma said that he is thrilled to serve TiE Boston.

Mr. Sarma, until most recently, served as President, CEO and Board Member of Immunome (NASDAQ:IMNM), which he successfully led through an IPO in 2020, a large pharma transaction with $2B+ potential in January 2023, and a merger bringing in a seasoned new CEO and a $125M concurrent investment in October 2023.

Mr. Sarma has 30+ years of experience in all aspects of pharmaceutical and biotechnology business across multiple therapeutic platforms, and in companies of various sizes ranging from start-ups to large cap pharmaceutical companies.
