In addition to Boston, Bhosle and Ali will also perform in New Jersey and California. The Asha Bhosle Boston concert is being organized and hosted by Generation Bollywood USA.
Neha Sa, one of the organizers of the event, said the Boston concert will take place on Sunday, Aug. 20th from 7:00 PM to 10: 00 PM at Lynn Memorial Auditorium located at 3 City Hall Square in Lynn, MA.
“I believe Ashaji is coming to Boston after 9 years and this is being promoted as her Farewell tour in US,” Sa said.
Generation Bollywood USA brings theatrical plays, live bands, and concerts events from India.
Best known as a playback singer in Hindi cinema, Bhosle’s career started in 1943 and has spanned over six decades. She has done playback singing for over a thousand Bollywood movies, in addition to recording several private albums and participating in numerous solo concerts in India and abroad.
Apart from Hindi, Bhosle has sung in over 20 Indian and foreign languages. In 2011, she was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history. The Government of India honored her with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2008
Bhosle happens to be one of the younger sisters of the legendary Latha Mangeshkar. The siblings were inseparable in their young days and Latha was so fond of Asha that she almost quit school for being with her, according to organizers. However, her contradictory second marriage with Ganpatrao Bhosle let to a drift between the siblings. Leaving aside this blemish, her career has been impeccable with loads of awards to her name. Seven Filmfare awards, two National Awards and a dozen other laurels adorn her trophy cabinet. Her events are as rare it can get these days, so don’t miss out on this event, organizers say.
