BOSTON–Carrying Amma’s message of universal love, compassion, and peace, Swami
Amritaswarupananda Puri will conduct a free public program at the New England Shirdi Sai
Temple in Groton, MA, on December 7th, 2024.

As Amma’s senior-most disciple, Swamiji has been instrumental in expanding her mission from its humble beginnings in Amritapuri, southern India, into a global network of organizations spanning spiritual, humanitarian, and educational fields, touching millions of lives.

He is the Vice-Chairman of the Mata Amritanandamayi Math and the President of Amrita University, one of India’s top-ranking institutions. A distinguished scholar with a Master’s in
Philosophy, Swamiji has authored many books, including The Irresistible Attraction of Divinity (2019) and The Colour of the Rainbow: Compassionate Leadership (2014). For more than 37 years, Swamiji’s eloquent talks have enlightened and inspired audiences worldwide on topics ranging from spirituality and inner growth to sustainability and environmental consciousness.

Beyond his literary contributions, Swamiji is a gifted singer and composer of bhajans (devotional songs), captivating hearts with his soulful melodies.

In 1989, Swamiji founded AYUDH, an international youth movement that empowers young people to lead with values of tolerance, global responsibility, and sustainability. AYUDH is a
Sanskrit term meaning “peace” and also stands for “Amma’s Youth for Unity, Diversity, and
Humanity”.

AYUDH Boston embodies Swamiji’s vision to empower the next generation with tools to build a better world. Recent initiatives include a workshop to teach practical eco-conscious habits like hydroponics, volunteering at a tree-planting event in Watertown, MA, and addressing food insecurity in the Boston community through meal-packing events, delivering rescued baked goods from grocery stores to shelters, and annual food and clothing drives.

The youth group also regularly visited a nursing home in Brookline, MA, where their sing-alongs were a much anticipated activity for the residents, fostering joy and community.

In 2023, the Government of India appointed Amma as the Chair of Civil 20 (C20) during its presidency of the G20. As a C20 Troika member, Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri represented Amma, showcasing her leadership and vision in this significant role.
Under Swamiji’s stewardship, policies were developed by C20’s 16 working groups to address key global challenges, including holistic health and well-being, women’s empowerment, gender equality, disaster resilience, access to education, water management, advocating for the voices of people with disabilities, and the implications of exponential technological growth.
