Social Media Users Call for Vishal Dadlani’s Removal from ‘Indian Idol’ After Viral Video

MUMBAI — Music composer and singer Vishal Dadlani is facing backlash online, with some social media users calling for his removal from the singing reality show “Indian Idol” following a viral video showing him interacting with a Pakistani journalist.
Dadlani, who serves as a judge on the show, became the subject of criticism after the clip surfaced online, prompting a wave of reactions on X, formerly Twitter.
“Remove Vishal Dadlani From Indian Idol @SonyTV,” one user wrote.
Another user posted, “Vishal Dadlani has questioned our sovereignty and our right to exist as a nation by aligning with Pakistani terrorists. This clearly constitutes an act of terrorism as per new Bhartiya definition Please get him booked under UAPA”.
Others echoed similar sentiments, with one calling him “the biggest anti-Indian I have ever seen” and another urging viewers to boycott the show.
The controversy stems from a video that shows Dadlani in conversation with Pakistani journalist Safina Khan during what appeared to be a casual interaction in London. The clip quickly spread across social media platforms, drawing strong reactions due to Khan’s perceived political views.
Reports indicate the interaction took place in a public or event setting, with both individuals seen speaking informally.
As of now, Dadlani has not issued a detailed public response addressing the incident.
The episode has reignited tensions online, reflecting the sensitivity surrounding India-Pakistan relations, which have historically been marked by conflict and political strain.
Calls for action against Dadlani remain limited to social media at this stage, with no official response from the show’s producers or broadcaster. (Source: IANS)
