Shahid, Kriti and Rashmika Feature in New Version of ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’ for ‘Cocktail 2’

Mumbai — The popular song “Tum Hi Ho Bandhu” from the 2012 film “Cocktail” is returning in a new version for “Cocktail 2.”

Actor Shahid Kapoor, who plays Kunal in the sequel, shared the track on social media and wrote, “WE ARE OUT OF CON-TROLL. COCKTAIL 2 out on 19th June. (sic).”

The original song was composed by Pritam, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil. Kavita Seth and Neeraj Shridhar sang the track, which was picturized on Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty.

The new version features music production, arrangement and recreation by Abhijit Vaghani.

Speaking about recreating the popular song, Vaghani said, “Reimagining a song as loved as ‘Tum Hi Ho Bandhu’ comes with both excitement and responsibility. The original has a timeless charm that audiences continue to connect with even today.”

He said the goal was to preserve the spirit of the original while giving it a modern sound.

“My approach was to retain the soul and celebratory spirit of the track while introducing fresh musical textures and a modern sound that resonates with today’s listeners. It has been a wonderful experience paying tribute to such an iconic composition by Pritam Da, brought to life so beautifully by Kavita Seth, Neeraj Shridhar, and Irshad Kamil,” he said.

The makers previously released the songs “Tujhko,” “Vallah,” “Mashooqa” and “Jab Talak” from the sequel.

“Cocktail 2” is a spiritual sequel to the 2012 hit “Cocktail,” which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty. The original film followed a complicated love triangle among three friends living in London.

Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, “Cocktail 2” is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19. (Source: IANS)
