Sadly, Indian-American Sonika Vaid is Eliminated from American Idol Singing Competition
WESTON, MA—Indian-American Sonika Vaid was eliminated Thursday night from the American Idol singing competition. 20-year-old Vaid had made to top five and was the first Indian-American to reach this stage.
The winner will be decided in two weeks from the remaining four contestants: La’Porsha Renae, MacKenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon and Dalton Rapattoni.
Vaid had won the hearts of many judges and the Indian American community across the United States and overseas when this season’s American Idol competition began and she made to top five. It was not immediately clear what she was planning next.
The 20-year-old native of Massachusetts is the first Indian-American to reach this far in this national singing completion.
Vaid’s parents came to the United States as kids. She is a summer resident of Martha’s Vineyard, and a 2013 graduate of Weston High School, Weston, MA. Currently, she is a sophomore at William Smith College in New York.
