Breaking News: Two Arrested in ‘Highly Coordinated’ Break-In Ring Targeting Indian Households Across Massachusetts

WOBURN, Mass.— Two men from New York have been arrested and charged in what prosecutors describe as a “highly coordinated” series of residential break-ins targeting Indian and East Asian households across Massachusetts, according to reporting by WCVB Channel 5.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said the suspects, both in their mid-20s and from Queens, are accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash and large amounts of jewelry from homes in communities including Woburn, Burlington, North Reading, and Wilmington.
According to WCVB, the alleged break-ins occurred between June and July of last year and involved at least five homes. Prosecutors said the suspects attempted to evade detection by turning off their electronic devices.
Ryan described the operation as sophisticated, noting the individuals traveled from Rhode Island and used short-term rentals in Weymouth and Taunton as staging points before targeting specific neighborhoods.
Investigators later determined the incidents were part of a broader pattern tied to similar crimes across Massachusetts and other parts of the East Coast, WCVB reported. A multistate investigation was launched involving local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Authorities said the suspects were ultimately identified through advanced investigative tools, including vehicle tracking and cellphone data analysis.
A third suspect, a 26-year-old from Pennsylvania, has also been identified and is expected to face conspiracy charges in Massachusetts, according to WCVB.
“There is a great financial loss, but it isn’t just that,” Ryan said, as reported by WCVB. “The impact on communities far exceeds that because this is a targeting.”
The investigation involved multiple agencies, including the Massachusetts State Police, local police departments, and the FBI. Officials say the case highlights an ongoing concern about organized burglary rings targeting specific communities.
