NEW DELHI– Air India CEO Campbell Wilson has informed airline staff that the preliminary investigation into the crash of Flight AI 171 in Ahmedabad has found no mechanical or maintenance faults in the aircraft or its engines.

In an internal communication accessed by IANS, Wilson stated that all mandatory maintenance procedures had been completed before the crash involving the Boeing Dreamliner.

“There were no issues with the quality of fuel, no abnormalities during take-off, and both pilots passed their mandatory pre-flight breathalyzer tests,” the letter read. “Additionally, there were no medical concerns noted for the flight crew.”

Wilson emphasized that the preliminary report “has not identified a cause or made any recommendations,” urging staff and the public to refrain from jumping to conclusions while the investigation remains ongoing.

He assured employees that Air India will continue fully cooperating with investigators to support a thorough and impartial inquiry.

“Until the final report is released or a cause is formally determined, we expect continued speculation and sensational headlines,” Wilson wrote. “Despite this, we must remain focused and uphold the values that have driven Air India’s transformation over the past three years—integrity, excellence, customer focus, innovation, and teamwork.”

He reiterated that the airline’s top priorities are standing by the families of those who lost their lives, supporting the injured, maintaining team unity, and continuing to provide safe and reliable air travel.

Wilson acknowledged that the release of the preliminary report provided greater clarity about the crash but also raised new questions. “As expected, it has clarified some points while prompting further inquiry,” he said.

He also noted that media coverage over the past month has included numerous theories, allegations, and rumors—many of which have since been disproven. (Source: IANS)
