WALTHAM, MA– Sushila G. Lulla, a long-time resident of Waltham, MA and popularly known as “Didi” among friends and family, passed away peacefully on Aug. 25. She was 87.

Ms. Lulla was born in 1932 in Shikarpur in the Sindh province of pre-partitioned India, now in Pakistan. Her family moved to Bombay around the time of partition. She attended Law School in Bombay, practiced law before moving to the United States in 1975. She was a long-time real estate investor in the US, living in Waltham.

She is survived by her brother, Pahlajsing Lulla, and his family, including his son, Sunil Lulla, daughter-in-law, Dr. Kiran Lulla, and their daughters, Srishti and Shraddha Lulla. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Dr. Savitri Hingorani and Mr. Pribhu Hingorani, including their son, Dr. Anil Hingorani, and their daughter, Renu DaSilva, and their children.

Ms. Lulla quickly became ‘Didi’ to everyone she met, helping the new immigrants coming into the Boston area in the 1980s and ‘90s find jobs and housing. She turned strangers into family and friends through her care and help. She is one of those people who lived to make life better for those around them, and she will be dearly missed.

Ms. Lulla truly followed the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam- “the world is one family”.

Those who want to pay respect to Ms. Lulla are invited to Antim Ardas and Langar in her honor on Saturday, August 31st, 2019, at the Gurdwara Sahib located at 168 Flanders Road, in Westborough MA. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 AM.
