Neha Kakkar Announces Break From Work and Personal Commitments, Seeks Privacy

MUMBAI, India — Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar on Monday announced that she is taking a break from both her personal and professional life, saying she needs time away from responsibilities, relationships, and work.

The singer shared the announcement on her Instagram Stories, posting a note that read: “Time to take a break from Responsibilities, Relationships, Work and Everything I can think of right now. Not sure if I’ll be back or not. Thank you (sic).”

In a follow-up message, Kakkar urged paparazzi and fans to respect her privacy during this period.

“And I request Paparazzi and Fans to Not to film me at all. I hope you respect my privacy and let me live freely in this world. No Cameras Plz! I request! This is the least you all can give me for my peace (sic),” she wrote.

The singer did not disclose the reason behind her decision to step away.

Neha Kakkar, the younger sister of playback singers Tony Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar, began performing at a young age at religious events. She gained national attention in 2005 after participating in the second season of the singing reality show “Indian Idol.”

She made her Bollywood debut as a chorus singer in “Meerabai Not Out” and rose to prominence with the 2012 hit “Second Hand Jawaani” from “Cocktail.” She later delivered a string of popular party tracks, including “Sunny Sunny” from “Yaariyan” and “London Thumakda” from “Queen.”

Kakkar has also appeared in several music videos and served as a judge on multiple television reality shows, including “Indian Idol.” In 2019, she was listed among the most-viewed female artists on YouTube with 13.9 billion views, and in 2021, she became the first Indian singer to receive a YouTube Diamond Award.

She has featured in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list in 2017 and 2019 and was named among Forbes’ Asia’s 100 Digital Stars in 2020.

The “Garmi” hitmaker is married to Punjabi singer Rohanpreet Singh. The couple tied the knot at a Gurudwara in New Delhi in 2020. (Source: IANS)
