Mumbai– Basketball legends Derek Fisher and Gary Payton are set to visit India for the inaugural NBA House, a first-of-its-kind interactive fan experience that celebrates the fusion of basketball, music, and culture. The event will take place on June 7 and 8 at the DOME, SVP Stadium in Mumbai, coinciding with the excitement of the 2025 NBA Finals.

Organized by the National Basketball Association in partnership with Budweiser, the two-day NBA House will feature a range of fan-focused experiences, including basketball-themed activities, live music performances, appearances by NBA legends, and photo opportunities with the coveted Larry O’Brien Trophy. Attendees will also be treated to performances by the Sacramento Kings mascot Slamson, the Kings Dancers, and the team’s high-flying dunk crew.

Derek Fisher, a five-time NBA champion best known for his 18-season career as a point guard—primarily with the Los Angeles Lakers—will headline the event. Fisher won titles with the Lakers in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2009, and 2010, and later transitioned to coaching, including a stint as head coach of the New York Knicks.

Joining him is Naismith Basketball Hall of Famer Gary Payton, widely regarded as one of the greatest defensive players in NBA history. Nicknamed “The Glove,” Payton was the second overall pick in the 1990 NBA Draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. Over his career, he also played for the Milwaukee Bucks, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, and Miami Heat—winning an NBA championship with the Heat in 2006. He was a key member of the U.S. men’s national team that won gold at the 1996 Olympics and remains one of only two point guards to win the NBA Defensive Player of the Year award.

“The first BUDX NBA House will be a must-visit destination for passionate NBA fans in India to come together and celebrate their love of the game amid the excitement of the NBA Finals,” said Rajah Chaudhry, NBA Asia Head of Strategy and NBA India Country Head. “We look forward to bringing this signature showcase of the NBA, music, and culture to India at a time when there is incredible momentum around basketball in the country.”

This landmark event marks a significant moment in the NBA’s growing footprint in India, offering fans an immersive opportunity to connect with the league, its stars, and the vibrant culture surrounding the sport. (Source: IANS)
