WALTHAM, MA— Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg will be the chief guest at the New England Choice Awards gala on Oct. 28 at Westin Hotel in Waltham, MA, INE MultiMedia announced.
About 400 entrepreneurs, corporate executives, philanthropists, educators and community leaders are expected to attend the awards gala, which is presented by INE MultiMedia in collaboration with INDIA New England News, the region’s oldest and largest online, print and video magazine serving the South Asian community.
“Ms. Goldberg is regarded as one of the top elected officials and politicians in New England,” said Dr. Manju Sheth, CEO of INE MultiMedia, a Waltham, MA-based non-profit organization devoted to promoting and supporting charitable organizations, art, culture, education and empowerment through workshops, seminars and multimedia. “It is a great honor to have her as our chief guest.”
Philanthropists Jaishree and Desh Deshpande, founders of the Deshpande Foundation, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the gala. In addition to honoring the Deshpandes, INE will also honor New England’s eight shining stars for their outstanding contributions in the following area: Academics, Art and Culture, Business and Entrepreneurship, Community Service, Healthcare, Non-Profit Organization, Philanthropy and Youth Leadership.
Ms. Godberg was first elected Selectman in the Town of Brookline and became its Chair. In 2014, she was elected as State Treasurer of Massachusetts. She is a Democrat, and was elected when Republican Governor Charlie Baker swept the state polls in 2014.
In addition leading the Massachusetts treasury, Ms. Goldberg is champion of women’s causes, wage equality and education.
Ms. Goldberg worked in the family-owned Stop & Shop till high school. She later served in different executive positions after attending law school at Boston College and receiving her MBA from Harvard. In addition to her full-time job as State Treasurer, Goldberg also serves as the President of Adoptions With Love and as an Advisory Board member of the Greater Boston Food Bank.
