Burlington, MA— Mariya Taher, who had joined Saheli as its Program Coordinator in May last year, is leaving the organization on March 15. Saheli is seeking a replacement for her position immediately.

Saheli officials said that Taher is leaving to finish her thesis for a Master’s degree in creative writing that is due in May.
“In addition, Mariya has commitments in several human rights and women’s causes both nationally and internationally,” said a Saheli official. “Saheli seeks a replacement for Mariya, the job description is available on the Saheli website.”
Taher, however, will stay with Saheli in a reduced 5 hour a week capacity to help find her replacement, and train the new program coordinator. She will help the board to create a sustainability plan for the policies she has put into place at Saheli such as the restructured volunteer program, AmeriCorp Vista Members, communication with volunteers, board time cards, writing projects, outreach surveys, and more.
Founded in 1996, Saheli is a community-based women’s organization in New England whose mission is to empower South Asian women and their families to live safe and healthy lives.
