New Delhi– Manchester United players Harry Maguire, Andre Onana, and Diogo Dalot are set to make their first-ever visit to India as part of the launch of United We Play 2025, the fifth season of the club’s flagship grassroots football initiative.
The trio will travel to Mumbai on May 29 to officially kick off the new season of United We Play. During their visit, they will not only launch the program but also engage directly with fans and supporters of the club in India.
This marks the second time that Apollo Tyres, the driving force behind the initiative, has brought current Manchester United players to India. In December 2022, stars David De Gea, Anthony Elanga, and Donny van de Beek visited Goa as part of the program’s earlier season.
Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana expressed his excitement about the upcoming visit:
“We’re really looking forward to being in India to launch the new season of United We Play and to inspire the next generation of footballers. It’ll be great to connect with fans in person and thank them for their passionate and unwavering support.”
United We Play is a nationwide initiative supported by Manchester United and powered by Apollo Tyres. The program aims to provide a platform for young footballers across India to showcase their talent, receive world-class training exposure, and stay motivated to pursue the sport. It also includes mentorship opportunities and the introduction of modern training methodologies through Manchester United Soccer Schools.
Rajesh Dahiya, Vice President – Commercial (India, SAARC & Southeast Asia) at Apollo Tyres Ltd., reflected on the program’s growth:
“The fourth season of United We Play concluded last year with Manchester United legend Gary Neville visiting India. We saw participation from over 15,000 young footballers across 18 cities. More than 100 coaches were engaged through virtual training sessions with Manchester United Soccer Schools, ensuring that our training philosophy reached every corner of the country.”
With Maguire, Onana, and Dalot headlining this year’s launch, the fifth season of United We Play is expected to reach new heights and continue to nurture the dreams of aspiring footballers throughout India. (Source: IANS)
