WALTHAM, MA— LearnQuest Academy of Music, a Waltham, MA-based non-profit institution devoted to providing formal instruction in Indian classical music, both Hindustani and Carnatic styles, is holding an open house on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at the academy.
Along with Open House, LearnQuest will also present recitals by its students. All the activities will take place at the academy, located at 711 Main Street in Waltham.
Here are details about the open house:
10 AM – 11:30 AM: Rabindra Sangeet workshop by Sujata Bhattacharya (free). You can be a part of this informative workshop and get a chance to meet the teacher, Sujata Bhattacharya. Students interested in Tabla will get a chance to visit with one of the teachers in this discipline, Rajesh Pai.
9 AM – 2 PM: Student recitals by students of LearnQuest (Hindustani and Carnatic vocal, guitar, sitar, sarod, harmonium and keyboard).
Visitors will also meet various teachers including Priti Chakravarty, Pradeep Shukla, Sadhana Upadhyay, Phil Kaplan, Sharad Gurung, Aditya Shah, Debajit Biswas, and Gauri Shankar among others.
The academy includes among its faculty a team of accomplished and experienced teachers of Indian music in the New England area as well as visiting musicians. Instruction is offered in the following disciplines:
