Kunal Kemmu Says New Song Nindiya Was Inspired by Parenthood

MUMBAI — Kunal Kemmu has released his second track, Nindiya, a song he says grew out of the quiet, personal moments he has experienced as a parent.
The actor, filmmaker and musician said the song was not originally planned as a formal release, but came from feelings tied to comforting his daughter, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu.
“‘Nindiya’ came from some of the quietest, most real moments I’ve experienced as a parent. It wasn’t something I set out to write as a song, it was just a feeling that stayed with me,” Kemmu said in a statement.
Kemmu, who is married to actress Soha Ali Khan, said the track reflects the tenderness and hopes parents carry for their children.
“There’s something incredibly pure about the way you comfort your child, the things you hope for them, the dreams you quietly carry. I think that’s what this track holds for me – a small piece of those moments,” he said.
Nindiya was originally created as a lullaby for Inaaya during everyday moments at home. It has since been developed into a full musical release while retaining its personal tone and emotional core.
The song blends imagery of night skies and sleep with the broader feeling of a parent soothing a child and imagining a hopeful future. Kemmu collaborated with Universal Music India on the track.
Kemmu made his directorial debut in 2024 with Madgaon Express, which starred Divyenndu, Pratik Gandhi, Avinash Tiwary, Nora Fatehi, Upendra Limaye and Chhaya Kadam.
His latest release is the Netflix series Single Papa, starring Manoj Pahwa, Dayanand Shetty, Prajakta Koli, Neha Dhupia and Ayesha Raza Mishra. The series follows Gaurav Gehlot, a recently divorced man whose sudden decision to adopt a baby shocks his family.
Kemmu is also set to appear in Prime Video’s upcoming web series Gulkanda Tales, directed by Raj & DK of The Family Man fame. The series also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Patralekha. (Source: IANS)
