Singer-composer-poet Kiran Nath delighted listeners with a blend of several of her ghazal and thumri compositions interlaced with recitations from her two volumes of poetry and classic tunes by many ghazal luminaries.

Nath was accompanied by Harshal Tole on tabla, Celia Markey on guitar, and daughter Mitali on vocals. The show was organized by Boston-based Ghazal Fans Club, emceed by Razia Mashkoor, and included beautiful recitations of Kiran’s ‘shaayari’ by Harish Dang, Sadia Chaghtai and Mashkoor.

Listeners enjoyed throughout the three hours long musical journey as they soaked in some of her best original work. “Ab Kya Kahoon Mere Meherbaan” sung in her beautiful melodious voice never fails to impress. Mitali sang and did full justice to Nath’s poetry in “Phir aankh jami hai raste par, phir aane ka socha hai tumne”. The mother- daughter duo were amazing in “Bahut Yaad Ayee Teri” and “Bhulane Ki Koshish Mein Hamne”, two ghazals sung parellely.

Nath’s renditions of classics by Begham Akhtar (“Ae Mohabbat Tere Anjaam pe”), Malika Pukhraj (“Abhi To Main Jawaan Hoon”), Master Madan (“Hairat Se Tak Raha Hai”) and “Ranjish Hi Sahi ” were excellent.

Organizers of the event said that they are excited to see Ghazal Fans Club continue growing its reach among ghazal artists and listeners.
