Maitra Jeevanche PhotoPandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Saleel Kulkarni on Saturday in Billerica

BILLERICA, MA— Kalavaibhav will present a musical concert “Maitra Jeevanche” by Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Saleel Kulkarni on Saturday, May 14, in Billerica, MA. Maitra Jeevanche is a journey of friendship expressed by music and created by Mangeshkar and Kulkarni, and an unscripted and artistically blended amalgamation of words, melody and rhythm.

The musical program will be held at 4:00 pm at Marshall Middle School located at 15 Floyd St. in Billerica, MA. Performances of Maitra Jeevanche are rarely held, and only a few performances have taken place in India in the last several years. This will be the first time that performances will be held in the United States. Well-known and popular songs composed by the artistes will be presented including Sakhya re ghaayaal mee harinee, Maalvoona taaka deepa, Tee geli tevhaa rimzim, Tu tevha tashee, Runu jhunu re braramara, Nasatesa gharee tu jevha, Deepang, etc.

Members of the organizing Kalavaibhav team are Arundhati Datye, Vaiju Karandikar, Bakul Datar.

Hindi Manch Brings Back the Magic of Doordarshan on Sunday

MARLBOROUGH, MA—On Sunday, May 15, Hindi Manch will present Chitrahaar at Marlborough High School in Marlborough, MA, tarting at 4:00 PM. For those who grew up in India, Doorarshan holds a place in their hearts. The only channel available for entertainment, people used to eagerly wait for programs like Chitrahaar and Yeh Jo hai Zindagi.

Hindi-1-PratibhaHindi Manch is recreating all those memories and will take you down a nostalgic ride. After hosting a sold-out show in December,  Hindi Manch is doing a rerun of the show on popular demand. Chitrhaar consists of a comedy play, comedy spoofs from Doordarshan and songs from winners and Semifinalists of Hindi Manch SaReGaMaPa – a unique combination of theater, comedy and excellent songs and music.

The show is directed by Hind Manch Director Anish Khazode.

Hindi Manch founder and President Preetesh Shrivastava said: “This venture from Hindi Manch is designed to bring the community together. We are going west of Boston to host this show to reach out to the community there, and would like to request all Hindi lovers to join the event and help promote the language and culture.”

Ekal Fundraiser on Saturday in Lowell

LOWELL, MA—Ekal Vidyalaya, a non-profit organization on a mission to bring basic education  to every child across rural India, is organizing its annual fundraising on Saturday, May 14, at 5:30 PM in Lowell, MA.

The evening will feature mesmerizing Bollywood music and dinner. The event will be held at Shriji Banquet Hall, located at 1705 Middlesex Ave, Lowell, MA.

Musical Drama Depicting Jain Philosophy on Sunday

BILLERICA, MA—The local Jain group is presenting an unique event on Sunday in Billerica, MA.  For the first time ever, Greater Bostonians will see a novel musical drama that illustrates Jain philosophy using western cultural elements.  It consists of original music composition by a middle school musical genius and professional direction by an award-winning theatrical actress from India.

The production takes place this Sunday (May 14) afternoon at Billerica High School in Billerica, MA,  from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  It is a community performance in celebration of the Jain temple’s 5th anniversary.
