The Citizen’s Foundation Gala for Building Schools on Saturday

tcf-photoMARLBOROUGH, MA—The Boston Chapter the Citizens Foundation , Pakistan’s largest non-profit organization in educational field with $30 million annual budget that has built more than 1,000 schools, providing education to thousands of boys and girls, is holding its annual fundraising gala on Saturday, May 7.

The gala will be held at Best Western Royal Plaza in Marlborough, MA. For more information, visit www.tcfusa.org. The fundraising gala will start at 7:00 pm and continue through 11:00 pm.

Hindi Play “Chanakya” Comes to Boston on Sunday

Chanakya-showWOBURN, MA—Chanakya, a Hindi play starring the Bollywood, television and theater actor Manoj Joshi with his team of talented artists, is coming to Boston. The play, brought locally by Dhoom Entertainment, will be staged on Sunday, May 8, at Woburn High School in Woburn, MA.

Joshi also enacted the character of Chanakya in the popular serial Ashoka on Colors and has done various roles in over 100 Bollywood movies. The play is based on the historic figure Chanakya, whose writing still inspires people.

A Musical Journey with Hrishikesh Mukherjee on Saturday

LEXINGTON, MA–On Saturday, May 7, Mohan Subramaniam and his group will present “A Musical Journey with Hrishikesh Mukherjee” at the National Heritage Museum in Lexington, MA , to celebrate legendary Mukherjee’s contributions to Hindi film music.

Lovingly referred to as Hrishi da, Mukherjee’s movies include Anupama, Anand, Abhimaan, Anuradha, Guddi, Bawarchi, Namak Haram, Golmaal, Chupke Chupke and Mili. His movies famously depicted Indian middle class lives and their stories. His movies also gave melodious music and some unforgettable songs.

“We are so excited about ‘A musical journey with Hrishikesh Mukherjee” on Saturday May 7th,’ Subramaniam told INDIA New England News.  “We have worked hard to create this show that presents a nice blend of choice clips from his films and some unforgettable songs from his movies.”

The May 7th show is presented by Swati  and Pratip Mukherjee and Meera and Mohan Subramaniam. Singers include Subramaniam, Sowmya Shri, Raghu Saranathan, Valentino Almeida and Nidhi Tare Lad.

CAMBRIDGE, MA, MIT Heritage Arts of South Asia, known as MITHAS, is organizing program featuring T.M. Krishna and Priyadarshini Govind in Carnatic Vocal Bharathnatyam .

The program will be held on Saturday, May 7, at the Kresge Auditorium at MIT in Cambridge, MA. R.K. Shriramkumar on Violin. Other artists include R.K. Shriramkumar on Violin and K. Arun Prakash on Mridangam.

Nasir Khan Memorial Lecture Series on Saturday

WALTHAM, MA–The Bournewood Health Systems in joint partnership with the Indian Medical Association of New England  (IMANE) is organizing “Nasir Khan Memorial Lecture Series: Update in Risk and Pain Management,” an annual Spring Continuing Medical Education (CME) lecture series on Saturday, May 7, in Waltham, MA.

The chair for this year’s CME is Dr. Umakanth Khatwa, MD, along with Dr. Naveen Pandaraboyina, MD. Dr. Sapna Aggrawal, is the president of IMANE.

The CME lecture will be held on from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at the headquarters of Massachusetts Medical Society located at 860 Winter Street in Waltham, Ma. Indian lunch will be provided.

Organizers said the medical profession is becoming extremely complex and challenging to practice in this era of electronic health records, ever increasing healthcare cost, insurance coverage and medical malpractice litigation.
