MUMBAI– Comedian and actor Kapil Sharma’s newly launched café, Kap’s Cafe, located in Surrey, British Columbia, came under attack on Thursday in a shooting incident reportedly claimed by Khalistani terrorist Harjit Singh Laddi.
According to local reports, at least nine rounds were fired at the café. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The attack comes just days after the soft launch of the café, which marks Kapil’s first foray into the hospitality industry. The outlet is co-managed by his wife, Ginni Chatrath, and has already gained popularity online, thanks to Kapil sharing glimpses of the space on social media.
The café has been praised for its chic pink-and-white theme, featuring crystal chandeliers, artificial floral decor, and baby pink sofas. Its menu includes specialty coffee along with a variety of desserts such as lemon pistachio cake, fudgy brownies, and croissants.
Despite the incident, the café had been experiencing a successful soft opening. The management recently shared their gratitude in a message to customers:
“We’re so grateful for the amazing turnout! Thank you for your patience as we do our best to seat everyone. Our café is currently experiencing a high volume with a big line-up. We appreciate your support during our soft launch.”
On the professional front, Kapil is currently hosting Season 3 of his Netflix series The Great Indian Kapil Show, which features familiar faces like Archana Puran Singh, Sunil Grover, Krushna Abhishek, and Navjot Singh Sidhu.
He is also awaiting the release of the sequel to his hit comedy-drama Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. The film is produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain, and Abbas-Mustan under Venus Worldwide Entertainment and Abbas Mustan Film Production, and will feature Manjot Singh in a key role. (Source: IANS)
