New Delhi– BJP MP Kangana Ranaut said Thursday she removed a controversial social media post about U.S. President Donald Trump following a request from BJP national president J.P. Nadda.

The actor-turned-politician, who represents Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency in Parliament, reportedly shared a personal comment on Trump that sparked backlash online and raised concerns within the party over its potential diplomatic fallout. The incident follows another controversy involving senior BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah over remarks on Colonel Sophiya Qureshi.

Ranaut said on X (formerly Twitter) that she had deleted the post, which also appeared on Instagram, after Nadda personally asked her to take it down. She described the post as her own opinion and expressed regret over sharing it.

“JP Nadda ji called and asked me to delete the tweet I had posted regarding Trump asking Apple CEO Tim Cook not to manufacture in India. I regret posting that very personal opinion of mine. As per instructions, I immediately deleted it from Instagram as well,” she wrote.

According to circulating screenshots, Ranaut’s now-deleted post appeared to criticize Trump for reportedly urging Apple to shift manufacturing away from India and back to the United States. Some users also claimed she compared Trump unfavorably to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning whether Trump’s comments were rooted in “personal jealousy or diplomatic insecurity.”

Trump recently made the comments during a business event in Doha, where he encouraged Apple to prioritize U.S. manufacturing over India, citing high tariffs. His remarks come at a time when Apple is considering expanding its production footprint in India, part of a broader strategy to reduce reliance on China amid ongoing trade tensions. (Source: IANS)
