Justin Rose to make India debut at DP World India Championship

NEW DELHI — Major champion Justin Rose will make his professional debut in India when he tees it up at the DP World India Championship, scheduled for October 15-18 at Delhi Golf Club.
The world No. 5 will join a strong field that includes defending champion Tommy Fleetwood and recent Masters winner Rory McIlroy at the $4 million event.
“I’ve played all over the world over the course of my career, and I’m excited to get the chance to add India to the list this season,” Rose said.
Co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India, the tournament will feature the largest prize fund ever offered for a DP World Tour event in the country and will be part of the key Back 9 phase of the Race to Dubai.
“I’ve heard so much about the country and how passionate the golf fans are, so I’m very much looking forward to teeing it up in the DP World India Championship for the first time and experiencing what Delhi has to offer,” he added.
Fleetwood returns after winning the inaugural edition last season, claiming his eighth DP World Tour title as part of a standout year that also included a FedExCup victory and a Ryder Cup appearance.
McIlroy is also set to return after recently securing his sixth major title and a second Masters victory at Augusta National.
Rose has been among the game’s top players since earning his first DP World Tour win in 2002. He won the U.S. Open in 2013 and captured Olympic gold in 2016. Earlier this season, the former world No. 1 claimed his 13th PGA Tour title.
He also made his seventh Ryder Cup appearance last year, helping Europe secure a victory over the United States. (Source: IANS)
