Jr NTR Unveils Intense ‘Mrithunjay’ Trailer, Praises Sree Vishnu’s Upcoming Thriller
Hyderabad— Telugu star Jr NTR on Saturday launched the gripping trailer of the upcoming thriller Mrithunjay, starring Sree Vishnu and Reba John, heightening anticipation ahead of its March 6 theatrical release.
Taking to X, Jr NTR extended his support to producer Sandeep Gunnam, popularly known as Sunny, calling him a longtime friend with a strong instinct for identifying distinctive stories — a trait he said mirrors that of his father, veteran filmmaker Gunnam Gangaraju.
“#MrithyunjayTrailer carries gripping intensity and leaves you curious for more,” Jr NTR wrote, wishing director Hussain Sha Kiran, Sree Vishnu and the team success for the film’s release.
The trailer opens on an intense note, with Sree Vishnu’s character promising a child that he will untangle the “knots” binding his hands and answer lingering questions. The visuals soon shift to his attempt to secure a posting in the crime bureau — a request that is denied — hinting at his character’s determination to investigate complex cases, possibly as an aspiring crime journalist.
Reba John appears as a police officer who initially dismisses a suspicious death as an accident. However, Sree Vishnu’s character insists there is more to the case, setting up a tense narrative filled with mystery and confrontation. The trailer also teases a search for a man affected by polio and features an emotional exchange in which the protagonist confesses his fear of losing, only to be reminded that not fighting is the real failure.
Originally slated for release on February 27, Mrithunjay will now hit cinemas on March 6. Announcing the revised date on Instagram, Sree Vishnu wrote, “Release date marindhi, thrillu kaadhu! (The release date has changed, not the thrill!) Meet #MrithyuNjay in cinemas from March 6th.”
Backed by Light Box Media, the film is produced by Sandeep Gunnam and Vinay Chilakapati, and presented by Ramya Gunnam. The technical team includes music composer Kaala Bhairava, cinematographer Vidyasagar, production designer Manisha, and National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad.
With its suspense-driven narrative and intense performances, Mrithunjay has already generated significant buzz among fans and industry watchers, setting the stage for what promises to be a compelling big-screen thriller.
