Deeply meditative North Indian ragas. Beautifully intricate South Indian rhythms. Driving African beats. Edgy, contemporary jazz. World-jazz ensemble Natraj puts it all together in an adventurous, engaging synthesis.

“Natraj… The future of jazz… The future of world music… a spellbinding tapestry… a jazz hybrid of celebration and reflection,” raves the Times of India. From Boston to Toronto, and Mumbai to Ghana, Natraj has delighted listeners since 1987.

Acclaimed as Boston’s Best Jazz Band by the Improper Bostonian, Natraj seamlessly melds the classical music of India, traditional music from West Africa, and contemporary jazz creating its own adventurous and infectious style. “Natraj… Punctuated by West African rhythms, steeped in Indian raga and infused with the haunting cry of a soprano sax… lyrical, contemplative… unique,” extols the Plain Dealer, Cleveland, OH.

Funding for the show is provided in part by a grant from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts, through an appropriation by the Rhode Island General Assembly, a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and private funders.
