ISW Debuts ‘Meet the Author’ Series Featuring Manorama Choudhury and Upendra Mishra on April 25 at India Center

Free Event: Meet the Authors Behind Powerful Stories of Life and Literature

SHREWSBURY, MA — The India Society of Worcester (ISW) will debut its Meet the Author series on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the India Center in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The inaugural event, scheduled from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at 152 Main Street, will feature Manorama Choudhury, author of Ashtanayika: Tatwa O Kabita in Odia.

The event is jointly organized by Humrahee and Women Empower Women (WEW), two active groups within ISW—one of the oldest Indian American community organizations in the United States.

“ISW Humrahee and WEW warmly invite you to Meet the Author evening, an occasion where stories breathe, and journeys unfold,” said Kirti Nagpal, a member of the ISW Humrahee organizing committee and Chair of the Crisis Support Network. “We are deeply honored to welcome two distinguished voices: Upendra Mishra and Manorama Choudhury, for an evening of reflection, conversation, and inspiration.”

Upendra Mishra

Upendra Mishra, founder of Precise Marketing & Media, Inc. and The Mishra Group, has long shaped narratives through journalism and publishing. He has been instrumental in building platforms such as INDIA New England News, IndUS Business Journal, Boston Life Sciences Times, and Boston Real Estate Times.

In his book After the Fall: How Owen Lost Everything and Found What Truly Matters, Mishra offers a deeply human portrait of unraveling and renewal. It is the story of a man who once stood at the height of success—brilliant, admired, and seemingly complete—only to descend into loss that strips life to its barest truths. From that quiet ruin emerges a journey inward, illuminated by ancient Indian wisdom, the contemplative echoes of Carl Jung and Marcus Aurelius, and the raw clarity of lived experience.

After the Fall is not just a book—it is a reckoning of the soul, a meditation on what remains when everything else falls away.

Manorama Choudhury, an immigrant U.S. citizen with roots in Berhampur, Odisha, is a global citizen whose life moves gracefully across cultures. A passionate poet and writer, dedicated philanthropist, and innovative social entrepreneur, she brings together art, purpose, and vision.

She is the author of Ashtanayika: Tatwa O Kabita in Odia and co-author of Ashtanayika: The Romantic Heroines from the Natyashastra to Modernity in English. Her work explores the timeless beauty of Shringar Rasa, tracing its enduring resonance through Indian art, literature, and culture—enriched by her own evocative classical and contemporary verses.

Through every word and endeavor, Choudhury weaves a bridge between tradition and modernity, scholarship and soul.

“We’re very excited and looking forward to an evening of words, wisdom, and quiet transformation,” said Snehlata Kadam, Chair of Women Empower Women. “The whole idea is to encourage reading.”
