NAIROBI, Kenya — Indian diplomatic missions across the globe marked International Gita Mahotsav with events highlighting the enduring relevance and universal wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita.
In Kenya, the Indian High Commission in Nairobi, in partnership with the Hindu Council of Kenya, hosted a program that included a video message from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the occasion of the 10th International Gita Mahotsav. Indian High Commissioner Adarsh Swaika thanked the Hindu Council for its collaboration and acknowledged the many community organizations in Kenya that promote the study and teaching of the Gita.
The program underscored the timeless teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and their relevance in contemporary life. Representatives and students from ISKCON, Chinmaya Mission, Bhakti Marga, and the Hindu Council of Kenya delivered discourses and recited shlokas, the High Commission said.
International Gita Mahotsav is currently underway in Kurukshetra, Haryana, running from November 15 to December 5. The festival commemorates the day Lord Krishna delivered the teachings of the Gita to Arjun on the battlefield of Kurukshetra and is observed on Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha.
In the United States, the Consulate General of India in Houston joined Geeta Pariwar in celebrating Geeta Jayanti at Vitthal Rukmini Mandir. Indian Consul Prashant Sona told attendees that the Gita’s teachings serve not only as a spiritual foundation but also as a cultural guide that inspires harmony, responsibility, and resilience in modern life.
“At Vitthal Rukmini Mandir, collective recitation and reflections on the Gita brought these timeless teachings into focus—clarity in decision-making, balance amid success and failure, and compassion in action,” the Consulate posted on X. (Source: IANS)
