Indian Comedian Zakir Khan to Perform at Boston’s Wang Theatre as Part of U.S. Tour
BOSTON — Global stand-up sensation Zakir Khan will bring his widely acclaimed comedy to Boston this spring, performing at the Boch Center Wang Theatre as part of a nine-city U.S. tour.
The performance follows a historic milestone in Khan’s career, as he became the first Indian comedian to headline and sell out a Hindi-language show at Madison Square Garden. His tour includes major stops in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., reflecting his growing global reach.
Named to Deadline’s 2025 Comedy Breakthrough list, Khan’s rise in the comedy world has been rapid and unconventional. Originally from Indore, India, he moved to Delhi with aspirations of becoming a radio jockey before discovering stand-up comedy. His breakthrough came after winning Comedy Central India’s “Best Stand-Up Comedian,” launching a career that has since spanned more than 150 cities worldwide and sold over 3 million tickets.
Khan’s performances, delivered primarily in Hindi, have attracted a massive international following. With more than 18 million followers across platforms and over 1 billion views on YouTube and social media, he has become one of the most prominent voices in global stand-up comedy. His popular routines, including viral clips such as When I Met a Delhi Girl, have resonated with audiences for their relatable storytelling and distinctly Indian perspective.
His comedic style—often described as “uniquely Indian”—draws on the humor, relationships, and everyday experiences of Indian households, while also connecting with broader themes of love, ambition, and identity.
In addition to live performances, Khan is the creator of popular streaming specials such as Haq Se Single and Kaksha Gyaarvi, and hosts the podcast Ummeed, one of India’s top-performing shows. He has also shared the stage with prominent comedians including Hasan Minhaj, Vir Das, and Papa CJ.
The Boston show is expected to draw strong interest from both the South Asian community and comedy fans more broadly, as Khan continues to expand his presence into film and television through new creative projects.
Tickets for the May 22 performance are anticipated to sell quickly, reflecting the comedian’s growing popularity and the increasing global reach of Indian stand-up comedy.
