India to Receive $2.63 Million Prize as ICC Announces Final T20 World Cup 2026 Payouts
DUBAI — India will receive $2.63 million in prize money after winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, as the International Cricket Council announced the final distribution of the tournament’s $11.25 million players’ prize pool.
India secured the title by defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, completing a dominant campaign that also brings the largest financial reward of the tournament.
According to the ICC, the champions will receive $2,639,423, a significant increase compared with the prize money awarded in the 2024 edition of the tournament.
Runner-up New Zealand will receive $1,422,692 for finishing second. Losing semifinalists South Africa and England will earn $1,005,577 and $974,423, respectively.
Four teams that reached the Super 8 stage but did not advance to the semifinals — West Indies, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Sri Lanka — will receive $538,269, $522,692, $491,538, and $475,962, respectively.
Afghanistan, Australia, and the United States, which also reached the Super 8 stage but did not progress further, will each receive $309,808.
Among the remaining teams, Scotland will receive $278,654 and Ireland will earn $271,731. Italy, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates, and Nepal will each receive $256,154.
Teams eliminated in the early stages of the tournament — Canada, Namibia, and Oman — will each receive the base participation payment of $225,000.
The ICC said the figures represent the total prize money earned by each team across all stages of the tournament, including the group stage, Super 8s, semifinals, and the final.
The amounts include base participation payments, bonuses for match victories, and rewards for advancing through the different stages of the competition.
The governing body noted that all payouts are calculated before any applicable tax compliance requirements or deductions.
The ICC added that the record prize pool reflects the expanded prize structure introduced in 2024, which increased financial rewards across its global tournaments. (Source: IANS)
