BOSTON–Flock, an India-based workplace collaboration platform offering a full-suite of communication and productivity tools, has chosen Boston as its North American headquarters and the global center of its go-to-market operations.

With plans to hire for more than 20 open sales and marketing roles in Boston before the end of the year, Flock has recently appointed Ryan Kelly and Nick D’Ascensao as vice president of global marketing and vice president of global sales, respectively. They’ll lead the charge with Chief Revenue Officer Sam Mallikarjunan under Founder and Chief Executive Officer Bhavin Turakhia.

Turakhia is a serial entrepreneur and self-made billionaire who sees Boston as a breeding ground for his next major success with Flock, thanks to the availability of top-level talent and continued tech sector growth. He is already familiar with the Boston area, having sold a part of his company, Directi, to Burlington, Massachusetts-based Endurance International Group in 2014. Flock is the fourth company Turakhia has successfully bootstrapped, with two nine-figure exits over his career so far.

“We see tremendous potential in the Boston area, especially when it comes to recruiting top talent to help Flock become the leading workplace collaboration platform,” said Turakhia. “There are many parallels between Boston and India, where Flock was founded five years ago, since both are on the rise in the larger tech scene and offer immense growth opportunities. This made it an easy decision to select Boston as our North American headquarters over tech heavyweights like Silicon Valley.”

With the team collaboration market expected to clock a net worth of $43.1 billion USD by 2022, Flock aims to improve team collaboration and communication through its rich and intuitive messenger service. The company wants to create a single, secure platform where workplace productivity can be managed. The recent launch of Flockmail further expands the company’s suite of products, improving email communication capabilities for Flock users.

The new marketing and sales vice presidents will work with Mallikarjunan to support global expansion goals. Kelly joins from Nanigans and will be responsible for building Flock’s global brand and lead all aspects of marketing across the organization. D’Ascensao joins from ezCater and will expand Flock’s sales organization to support new revenue growth across the Americas, EMEA and APAC.

Flock’s suite of messaging and collaboration tools enables businesses of all sizes to maximize their resources and achieve their true potential.
