In Collaboration With IAGB, Saheli Hosts An Evening of Melody and Dance in Lexington to Thank its Supporters

BURLINGTON, MA—In collaboration with India Association of Greater Boston (IAGB), Saheli is holding an evening of Melody and Dance to thanks its supporters on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Lexington Christian Academy, located at 48 Bartlett Ave. in Lexington, MA.

“Be ready to be charmed by Taal Mel, a musical band that brings together rhythms (Taal) and harmonies ( Mel) from the two rich musical cultures that we are lucky enough to be part of – India, where we grew up, and the US where we found our second homes,” Saheli said in a statement. “They love experimenting with Indian and Western classical and pop styles, ranging from Carnatic and Indian film music to blues and rock.”

Band members in alphabetical order by first name are: Al Day: Bass Guitar; Kamal Dasu: Drums; Karthik Balasubramaniam: Electric/acoustic guitar; Kavitha Venkatesan: Vocals; Rahul Shukla: Acoustic guitar; Simu Thomas: Keyboards; Smriti Rao: Vocals, and joined by guests artists; Medha Ramu: Vocals and Santosh Perumbadi: mridangam.

Pallavi Nagesha, a Bharatnatyam dancer and teacher in the Greater Boston area, will explore the timeless theme of “Nayika.” A heroine of exceptional beauty and character, as she experiences the various shades of emotions.

In alignment with Saheli’s mission, this performance empowers and celebrates women. The Nayika’s character reflects the strength, resilience, and emotional depth that women embody in their lives.

The event will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:30 PM.
