BURLINGTON, MA—The Nominating Committee of the India Association of Greater Boston, one of the oldest Indian-American  non-profit community organizations in the country, said that elections for the officers, including president and vice president, and board of directors will be held on Sunday, Oct. 8, in Burlington, MA.

The IAGB Nominating Committee, which consists of former IAGB presidents Kaplesh Kumar (Chair), Shiva Sheel and Rajani Kant, said that the names of all those who have been nominated for various positions will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Elections will be held for president, vice president, treasurer and secretary and members of the board of directors who together form the executive committee. These officials are elected at the organization’s General Body meeting, which is scheduled to start at 1:30 pm on Oct. 8 at the Academy of Creative Arts located at 12 A Street in Burlington, MA.

On Wednesday, Sept.  27, nominated contestants will be required to file their intention to contest by 6 pm or before. Not receiving such intention will be considered as withdrawal of candidacy for the position stated by nominee, the Nominating Committee said.

On Oct. 3, the IAGB secretary will notify voters the names of contestants, by noon or before.

Traditionally, vice president of the organization has been elected to the position of president in recent years, but about a couple of years ago that changed as there was a contested election. Sources said that this year will see a tough election for the position for president as a few candidates are vying for the position.
