Gunjan Kuthiala: When a Job Doctor and Career Coach Becomes a Bollywood Producer in US

NASHUA, NH— Gunjan Kuthiala calls herself an actress and writer by heart and a film producer by choice. She also runs two businesses: NRILIFE Productions and JOBGINI, a software as well as an employment services company.

“I am a passionate storyteller entrepreneur and an ecosystem creator whose calling is to fulfil dreams of millions of people,” says Ms. Kuthiala.

It is this passion that drives her both ventures – JOBGINI and NRILIFE productions, which is on a mission to create NRI-Bollywood to bring authentic filmmaking to fulfill creative aspirations of NRIs across the globe and to narrate thought-provoking stories with interwoven societal messages.

She is the producer of “NRI Wives: Grey Stories of Love Vs Desires.” It is the very first Bollywood feature film fully shot and produced in the United States. It’s a story of love versus desire that was released last year.

Ms. Kuthiala started her career in India as a TV Anchor and then, moved to the United States. She has acted in Music videos for Zee music as Lead Female, has done lead role for English Feature film- Encrypted: The Cyber Crime!, The Attic!, NRI Story, and more. She has been a theatre artist for Boston based theatre group SETU.

On April 26th, 2024, Ms. Kuthiala will be honored as the Outstanding Woman of the Year 2024 at the 21st Annual Woman of the Year Awards gala at the Burlington Marriott Hotel in Burlington, MA. The event will be attended by over 400 community leaders, social activists, entrepreneurs, academicians, and philanthropists.

Here is a Q/A with Ms. Kuthiala.

INDIA New England News:  Please tell our readers about your work and what you enjoy most about it?

Gunjan Kuthiala: I fulfil professional dreams of job aspirants by matching them with their dream careers via my first enterprise Jobgenie. Via this enterprise, I also get to guide adolescents and young professionals in choosing right careers and preparing them to succeed in their careers.

Then comes my second business, NRILIFE Productions, where I aspire to bring thought-provoking stories to life. I have already made two films and have released one of them in theatres globally, with very encouraging response. Both my professions provide me opportunities to help people realize their dreams, and that’s what I really love about my work.

INE:  If you’re engaged with any charity or non-profit, please tell us why this organization and what do you do for them? –

GK: With gratitude of multiple talents blessings, I decided to give back to universe by coaching kids/teenagers “Public Speaking & Career Coaching”. Public speaking and confidence management comes handy in every area of life and takes a back seat in most middle-class families kids and hence, that’s one “Vidhya” I like to coach for free.

INE:  What are your hobbies and interests?

GK: With God’s grace, my hobbies and interests have become my professional aspirations. Creative writing, film making, career & life coaching, meeting new people etc. are all part of my professional journey.

INE: In what way do you feel you have most positively influenced or served the local community and your company/organization and professional field?

GK: With God’s grace, till date, every penny that I have earned is by contributing to someone’s dreams directly or through my team and I feel blessed that I have contributed towards many career aspirations.

Being in Talent Acquisition domain, I consider myself a job doctor and Career Coach and always feel blessed when able to serve (regardless of getting paid or not), when I am able to support my community when someone is struggling through job hunt.

I also feel blessed that universe has given me a mission to bring authentic film making within the vicinity of our neighborhood to contribute to creative aspirations of many. This mission has become my primary purpose of life too since we have great shooting locations, lot of talent, integrity, and some money too but for most NRIs its not feasible to quit family, financial and social commitments and explore Mumbai or LA and hence, we are creating film making platform here in New England.

INE: What is your rare talent?

GK: Creative writing, My authenticity and networking

INE:  Your favorite books?

GK: Your Erroneous Zones by Wayne Dwyer.

INE: Your favorite quotes?

GK:  “Let my love open the door to your heart.”

INE:  Who inspires you the most?

GK: Michelle Obama.

INE:  Your core value you try to live by?

GK: Do good and Be good and Doing the right thing isn’t easy but that’s the right thing to do.

INE:  If you get a chance to meet, who is the one person you would like to meet and why?

GK: Michelle Obama as I admire her ability to balance all responsibilities in a graceful way and her energy, enthusiasm and community work leaves everyone touched, moved and inspired.
