Chennai – Actor and composer G.V. Prakash Kumar has been lauded for his generosity and commitment to the upcoming thriller drama Blackmail, with the film’s producer Jeyakodi Amalraj revealing that the star voluntarily accepted only half of his remuneration to help ensure the film’s completion.
Speaking at the audio launch of Blackmail, Amalraj expressed heartfelt gratitude toward the actor.
“If I have to thank someone for my film Blackmail, it is my hero G.V. Prakash Kumar. Even after the film was almost complete, we still had eight days of shoot pending, which we couldn’t proceed with for a long time. It was G.V. Prakash who stood by us and made it possible,” Amalraj said.
Detailing the situation further, he added:
“These days, we often hear of actors demanding full payment before stepping on set. But G.V. Prakash has only taken 50% of his pay. I told him, ‘This is all I have left. If you waive the rest, I can finish and release the film.’ Without a moment’s hesitation, he agreed. He completed the shoot, did his dubbing, and is here today at the audio launch. I will always remain indebted to him.”
Directed by Mu Maran, known for the acclaimed thriller Iravukku Aayiram Kangal, Blackmail stars G.V. Prakash alongside Teju Ashwini, and features an ensemble cast including Srikanth, Bindhu Madhavi, Linga, Thilak Ramesh, and Muthukumar. The film is produced by A. Deivakani and presented by Amalraj under the JDS Film Factory banner.
Slated for a worldwide release on August 1, the film’s first-look poster showed G.V. Prakash next to a motorbike with a number plate that read “Money”, sporting an anxious expression that hints at the film’s tense narrative.
On the technical side, Gokul Benoy handles cinematography, Sam C.S. scores the music, and San Lokesh is in charge of editing. Thilakapriya Shanmugham and Vinod Sundar serve as costume designers, while Rajasekhar choreographs the stunts and Sasikumar Paramasivam oversees makeup. (Source: IANS)
