Flipperachi Hopes His “India Chapter” Will Be Remembered as Cultural Bridge for Khaliji Hip-Hop

MUMBAI — Bahraini rapper Flipperachi says he hopes the period he calls the “India chapter” of his career will be remembered as a turning point when Khaliji hip-hop expanded beyond viral popularity and began building lasting cultural connections.

The artist, whose real name is Hussam Aseem, gained widespread attention in India after his track “FA9LA,” featured in the Indian film Dhurandhar alongside actor Akshaye Khanna, became a major hit.

Reflecting on the experience, Flipperachi said his goal has always been to use music to connect cultures rather than chase short-lived trends.

“As the moment Khaliji hip-hop crossed into a new space,” Flipperachi told IANS when asked how he hopes this phase of his career will be remembered.

He said he hopes the period will be seen as the point when the genre moved beyond momentary buzz and began establishing deeper global ties.

“Going beyond viral moments and as the start of long-term connection between cultures. It’s always been my move to build bridges and this plays a part in that,” he said.

Flipperachi has built an international fanbase through a genre-blending style and storytelling that often crosses cultural and linguistic boundaries.

His music gained a new audience with the release of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring a large ensemble cast that includes Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R. Madhavan.

The film, the first installment in a planned duology, centers on a covert counterterrorism operation. It follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent who infiltrates criminal syndicates and political power networks in Karachi in an attempt to dismantle a terror group targeting India.

The storyline draws loose inspiration from several real-life geopolitical events and conflicts in South Asia, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 attack on India’s Parliament and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, as well as developments linked to Pakistan’s Operation Lyari.

In February, the filmmakers announced the sequel’s title as Dhurandhar: The Revenge and released a poster teasing the next chapter of the franchise.

The second film continues the story of Hamza Ali Mazhari, an Indian undercover agent who has infiltrated Pakistan’s criminal underworld. After eliminating gangster Rehman Dakait and rising within the power structure, Hamza faces a new adversary — Major Iqbal, an ISI strategist known as Bade Sahab. (Source: IANS)
