MOSCOW, Russia– Moscow’s Manezhnaya Square came alive with vibrant dance, music, and devotional performances as the “Festival of India – Bharat Utsav” continued to captivate audiences with a colorful celebration of Indian culture and heritage.

In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Russia shared highlights from Thursday’s festivities: “A soulful start to the day with devotional and patriotic melodies in praise of Bharat. Spiritual hymns, Russian tributes, and Hindi patriotic songs echoed a message of peace and pride. Vikaas Bhi, Viraasat Bhi! Development and Heritage together!”

Running from July 5 to 13, the festival offers Muscovites and tourists a deep dive into India’s traditions through live performances, masterclasses, food, crafts, and more. The event is organized in collaboration with the Moscow Government and the Indian Embassy and is part of the city’s broader “Summer in Moscow” initiative, which features more than 1,000 cultural and recreational events.

The festival grounds have been transformed into a vibrant garden oasis with traditional Indian decor, lush greenery, and interactive relaxation zones. Among the standout performances was a dance by the Jivan Nritya Group themed “Family of Gods: Shiva, Parvati, and Ganesha,” blending spirituality with graceful choreography.

Bollywood also made a big impression, with energetic dance numbers celebrating Indian cinema’s rhythm and storytelling. Classical dance lovers were treated to Kuchipudi, Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Odissi, and Singri performances, along with folk songs in Maithili and Tamil.

Attendees also had the opportunity to explore Raja Yoga Meditation sessions, which introduced participants to inner stillness and self-realization through traditional Indian spiritual practices.

The festival includes a “Discover India” interactive quiz and a handicraft fair featuring traditional clothing, paintings, wooden carvings, ceramics, and other artisanal goods.

“Interest in Indian culture among both Muscovites and city visitors remains exceptionally strong,” said Bulat Nurmukhanov, Deputy Chairman of the Moscow City Tourism Committee. “We’re delighted to present this large-scale cultural initiative, which further strengthens the ties between our two nations. Indian participants have come specially to Moscow to share their country’s rich traditions, vibrant culture, and exquisite cuisine.”

The Festival of Bharat continues through July 13, offering a unique and immersive experience of India’s timeless cultural legacy. (Source: IANS)
