Fatima Sana Shaikh Calls It a ‘Moment of Honour’ as Sam Bahadur Wins Big at 71st National Film Awards

Mumbai– Actress Fatima Sana Shaikh expressed her pride and gratitude after Sam Bahadur received three honours at the 71st National Film Awards.

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, the film won awards for:

  • Best Feature Film on National, Social and Environmental Values

  • Best Makeup

  • Best Costume Design

Reacting to the recognition, Fatima said, “Huge congratulations to the team of Sam Bahadur for bagging three incredible National Film Awards! It’s truly a moment of honour.”

Fatima, who portrayed former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the biographical drama, reflected on her experience:
“I feel glad to be a part of the film and to have played the role of Smt. Indira Gandhi. Working with Meghna Gulzar was a dream. It was truly a one-of-a-kind experience for me.”

Sam Bahadur tells the story of India’s first Field Marshal, Sam Manekshaw, and was produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the RSVP Movies banner. The film featured Vicky Kaushal in the title role, with Sanya Malhotra as Silloo Manekshaw, and supporting performances from Neeraj Kabi, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Darius Chinoy, Elango Kumaravel, Vivek Bahl, and Sanjay Roy.

Released on December 1, 2023, the film reportedly earned a lifetime collection of ₹128.17 crore at the box office.

Separately, on Tuesday, Fatima shared behind-the-scenes photos from her upcoming film Aap Jaisa Koi, alongside co-star R. Madhavan. Calling him her “most favourite co-actor”, she wrote on Instagram:
“Maddy & Fatty… Thank you for being so kind, generous, and for making this entire shoot feel easy and fun.”

She also thanked Madhavan for treating her to “perfect filter coffees” and sharing his mother’s sambar masala recipe. (Source: IANS)
