BOSTON—Last fall Boston entrepreneur Subu Kota made big headlines when he announced that he will donate $1 million to promote cricket for the blind. This was the largest gift ever to India-based Samarthanam Trust whose mission is to help the disabled, especially the blind.

Mr. Kota sat down for an exclusive video interview on Face-to-Face With Upendra Mishra this week and talked about his 50-year journey in the United States where he first arrived in 1968 as a student with $8. During his 50-year journey, Mr. Kota started about 50 companies ranging from a cleaning service to gas station and from restaurant to IT company and health care and e-learning.

Mr. Kota is a serial entrepreneur with broad experience ranging from Information Technology Consulting, e-Learning Services and Pharmaceuticals Research and Manufacturing. He has been involved in start-ups in various sectors. Mr. Kota is charter membership of TiE Boston.
