Eva Longoria Reflects on Life Abroad, Says She Misses Family and Mexican Food

LOS ANGELES — Actress Eva Longoria says life abroad has brought a slower pace and new perspective, but there are still a few things she misses about the United States.

Longoria, who has been splitting her time between Spain and Mexico with her husband José Bastón and their seven-year-old son Santiago, said the biggest adjustment has been embracing a more relaxed lifestyle.

“They really enjoy life in Spain,” she said.

Speaking about cultural differences, Longoria highlighted how daily routines abroad differ from those in the U.S.

“They love a long meal. You’re never in a rush. I don’t miss the working lunch,” she said. “It’s so amazing how we really don’t take lunch in our work culture. You always do the working lunch: ‘I’m going to go grab a sandwich. I’ll be right back.’ You only have an hour. It’s so stressful to think, ‘I have to hurry up and be back.’”

She also pointed to the absence of heavy traffic as a major benefit of her life in Spain.

“There’s no traffic where we live (in Spain.) I walk everywhere,” she said.

Despite enjoying the slower pace, Longoria said she misses her family and certain comforts from home.

“I miss my family, my Texas family…. (and) good Mexican food. That’s what I miss. That’s what’s not in Europe, is good Mexican food,” she said.

Last year, Longoria said her son, who had previously been homeschooled, was set to enroll in school as the family spent more time in Los Angeles while she prepared to direct her second film, “The Fifth Wheel.”

Longoria first gained recognition for her role as Isabella Brana on “The Young and the Restless” and later rose to prominence as Gabrielle Solis on “Desperate Housewives.” She has since appeared in several films, including “The Sentinel,” “Over Her Dead Body,” “For Greater Glory,” “Frontera,” “Lowriders,” and “Overboard,” and has also made guest appearances on television series such as “Only Murders in the Building.” (Source: IANS)
