LOWELL, MA—Ekal Vidyalaya, a non-profit organization on a mission to bring basic education to every child across rural India, raised funds to support 1,008 Ekal Schools in India.
“It costs $365 per year to support an Ekal school. Our pledges and online donations are still coming in and we seem to be well on our way to reach our target of providing annual support of 1,008 schools,” said Ekal New England President Parveen Minocha.
“The New England Ekal chapter core is led by the INE Woman of the Year Finalist Parveen Minocha along with Anil Chawla, Pushpa Baskaran, Anuradha Upneja, Srilakshmi Srinivasan, Chetana Sanghvi. They have raised the bar very high,” said Ranjani Saigal, President of Ekal USA. “The theme of Ekal is Gaon – To – Global. We connect People from the world to the people in the remote rural villages. This year so many wanted to join us which makes it a very successful event.”
Minocha said thanked the volunteers and Ekal supporters.
“We were privileged to have our inspirations Ram Nehra, Puran Dang and Ramesh Shah, Ekal Global advisor at the event,” Minocha said. “The success of the event owes a great deal to our dedicated volunteers and amazing youth leaders. To see people have a fabulous time was truly heart-warming. We sincerely thank the New England community for their support.”
