Mumbai – Actress Chitrangada Singh, who recently appeared in Housefull 5, has opened up about the challenges she faced while working on Raat Akeli Hai 2, calling director Honey Trehan a “very demanding” filmmaker. She revealed that she had to give 28 retakes for a single shot, marking the most she has ever done in her career.

In a conversation with IANS, Chitrangada shared, “Usually my second or third take is the one we go with. But for Raat Akeli Hai 2, I’ve never taken so many retakes in my life. It was a very challenging role, and Honey is a very demanding director.”

Despite the demanding process, the actress expressed her gratitude for the experience, adding, “I’m actually happy because I think my performance has improved a lot. It really helped me grow as an actor.”

Chitrangada also spoke about her creative inspiration, saying she is particularly drawn to true stories and real-life incidents. “They inspire me a lot. I believe it’s important for us as filmmakers and cinema people to tell those stories—whether for entertainment or inspiration. That’s why biopics excite me.”

The actress was also asked about the recent controversy surrounding Deepika Padukone, who reportedly exited a film by Sandeep Reddy Vanga due to an eight-hour shift disagreement. Chitrangada offered a balanced perspective.

“It depends on the personal understanding between the actor and the director,” she said. “Sometimes there are time or budget constraints. We have to respect that—after all, time is money in this industry. Everyone is investing in a project.”

She added, “I don’t want to comment specifically, but everyone has the right to make their own choices. Deepika is a very big actress and it’s her privilege to do what’s best for her.”

Raat Akeli Hai 2 marks a significant return for Chitrangada in a performance-driven role, and with her renewed focus on storytelling rooted in realism, she continues to carve out a strong niche for herself in Indian cinema. (Source: IANS)
