Celebrating Hindu Sanskriti on Hindu Heritage Day on May 19

MARLBOROUGH, MA–Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has proclaimed May 19, 2018 to be The Hindu Heritage Day, which will be celebrated at Marlboro Middle School and is organized by the volunteers of VHPA (World Hindu Council of America). The event is expected to be attended by more than 2,000 Indian Americans this year.

“This all-inclusive event caters not only to greater Boston area residents but people all over the Tri-State area, and all small and large organizations too,” VHPA said in a statement. “India is a land of rich culture, traditions and customs, with Hindu Sanskriti (Hindu Culture) at its epitome. This year at Hindu Heritage Day 2018 we are proud to celebrate this rich and vast Hindu Sanskriti of our proud heritage. This theme also aligns with the international declaration of May 19th as the “Cultural Freedom Day.”

“Each year Hindu Heritage Day is centered around a theme to showcase an inspiring insight into Indian culture. This year’s theme, “Celebrating Hindu Sanskriti”, is not just a tradition but over the years have become a way of living with intact ethical and moral values. It has shaped our tradition in years, with our ancestors, Rishis, Saints, and Preachers guiding us throughout. We as practitioners of Hindu Sanskriti feel obliged to share the same knowledge with our generations to come,” the statement said. ” This noble tradition has already widespread all over the world in the form of our Value System, Yoga, Holistic and Natural health treatments, importance of Family culture, Ayurveda, Astronomy, Organic and self-sustained Living, our Philosophy, and our Spiritual insight. Its contributions in the field of Math, Science, even the Space Program is exemplary, something we are proud of. Overall, we can say that what Hindu Sanskriti has to offer is far more than what we have tapped so far.”

Hindu Heritage Day will be celebrated at Marlboro Middle School, located at 25 Union St, Marlboro, MA 01752.

The Cultural Program presented in HHD will consist of over 25 groups of students and teachers associated with Indian cultural organizations of greater Boston area. The whole event is designed to mesmerize audience throughout the show.

There will be a Mela/Fair section too, which will have booths ranging from Indian jewelry, beautiful Indian clothes be it saree or salwar suit, or kid’s dresses; handcrafted Indian items and other accessories. There will be booths to provide social and educational information to the people in greater Boston area. Books of Indian origins with devotional and social messages and comics for kids will also be on display. Hard to find spiritual books explaining Hindu Dharma in Hindi and English languages will also be available. Parents of little kids can also find information about schools teaching Hindi, Sanskrit and Indian values, from the booths.

For the foodie in you, a range of Indian dishes will be served from samosas and curries to naan. Snacks and Dinner both will be available on their respective time at the event. There will also be kite-flying, face painting, mehndi, exhibitions on different aspects of Hindu traditions, and much more.

“It is going to be a memorable day filled with the aroma of different aspects of India, for everyone. A true Bahurangi event at its best. You cannot miss this once in a year event at any cost, so mark your calendar for May 19, 2018,” the statement said.
