Body of 26-Year-Old Indian-American Lexington Man Found in Charles River in Boston

BOSTON—The body of a 26-year-old Indian-American man, who went missing on May 11th in Boston, has been found in Boston’s Charles River, according to sources familiar with the case. Neither Police Department of Lexington, MA, nor Boston Police confirmed the report.

A statement from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said that a male body has been recovered from the Charles River but did not identify the body.

“The adult male whose body was recovered from the Charles River this evening (May 19) has been identified and preliminary investigation into the death has not revealed evidence of foul play,” the statement said. “The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will make a final determination as to the cause and manner of his death, but while his death at this point appears to be a non-homicide I don’t expect to release his name.”

Sources familiar with the case, however, said that a body of a 26-year old man has been found in Boston’s Charles River near the Boston University Bridge and Massachusetts Avenue. Boston police also declined to provide any information and referred to Massachusetts State Police.

Ram Jayakumar, a resident of Lexington, went missing on May 11th in Boston.

“On Friday May 12, 2017 the parents of Ram Jayakumar contacted the Lexington Police to report their son missing,” Lexington police had said in a statement earlier.

According to Lexington Police, Ram is 26 Years old male of Indian descent, black hair, 5’6’’ tall, and 120 pounds.

“Ram wears glasses and was last seen with a blue backpack.  There is no current clothing description available.  He left home in Lexington on May 11th at 7:15 PM in his car and informed his parents that he would be back in one hour and did not return,” the police statement said. “His vehicle was located the morning of Friday May 13th parked on Bay State Road near Silber Way in Boston, which is near the Charles River.  Ram is a graduate of Brown University in Providence, RI. ”
