Amitabh, Emraan to star in psychological thriller

Mumbai– Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi are set to star together in a psychological thriller to be produced by Anand Pandit and directed by Rumi Jaffrey.

Pandit said in a statement: “My friendship with Bachchan goes back two decades. I have not met any other actor who matches his skill and commitment. It is an honour to be a part of creating a film with the legend. Given the subject of the film, Bachchan’s association and a talented actor like Emraan Hashmi on board, I do believe we have a winner in our hands.”

Big B tweeted: “A long standing commitment, now being fulfilled… Finally, to be a part of Anand Pandit’s next production, starring Emraan Hashmi and directed by Rumi Jaffrey. Releasing on February 21, 2020.”

The project will mark the first time collaboration between Big B and Emraan.

“I believe in Emraan, we have one of our best young actors. His performances are compelling,” said Pandit, who has also backed “PM Narendra Modi”, which has been stopped from release amid the elections which began on Thursday.

It’s challenging to host live game show: Gauahar

Mumbai– Actress Gauahar Khan says hosting a live game show on a digital platform is challenging.

The actress is seen hosting a live game show titled “Knock Knock at 2 pm” for Make My Trip app, read a statement.

After hosting “India’s Raw Star”, Gauahar will be hosting the new 30-minute game show that gives people opportunity to win travel packages at various exotic holiday destinations. The show will be live on the app every Sunday.

“The pressure is different when you are doing a live show. There’s no scope for mistakes. People need to get hooked on to it at that very second and should stay with us for 30 minutes. Your energy has to be bang on and language has to be absolutely proper and you cannot fumble as there are no retakes,” Gauahar said in a statement.

“So yes, it’s challenging. It is a very unique and interesting concept that I got really hooked on to. Also, it’s something that I haven’t attempted before,” she added.

The actress said it is very “important as an actor to be seen across all the platforms and just to be able to deliver what the audience wants”.

“My fans expect to see me all the time and they love the way I talk, so hosting is something I am very good at and also I enjoy it very much. Whether it is television or the web or films, I’m going to be doing it all. I’m glad that I have been accepted in all mediums.”

Ready to work with Ekta on any platform: Sushant

Mumbai– Actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who made his acting debut on television with Ekta Kapoor’s “Pavitra Rishta”, says he is ready to work with the producer on any platform.

Sushant was interacting with the media when he launched author Natasha Malpani Oswal’s book “Boundless”, along with Ekta here on Wednesday.

Asked if he would like to work with Ekta on television again, Sushant said: “Why only on television? I am ready to work with her on any platform. Apart from my family, if there is one person who has been instrumental in my career, it is Ekta (Kapoor) madam. So, if she tells me do anything, I will follow her.”

Sushant recently wrapped up shooting of Nitesh Tiwari’s next film “Chhichhore”, in which he will share screen space with Shraddha Kapoor.

He said: “We have completed shooting of the film and now it will release soon. I feel very excited during the shooting of every film of mine. Now, we will do the film’s dubbing.”

A.R. Rahman’s film ’99 Songs’ to release on June 21

Chennai– Grammy and Oscar-winning musician A.R. Rahman on Thursday announced that his ambitious production “99 Songs” will release on June 21 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The music maestro tweeted: “I am very excited to announce the release of my very first film as producer and writer, ’99 Songs’, a young, passionate love story, with music at its soul.

“’99 Songs’ will be released in cinemas in three languages Hindi, Tamil and Telugu on June 21, 2019. I thank you all for the love, support and encouragement you have showered on me.”

Directed by Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, the film is backed by Rahman’s banner Y.M. Movies and Jio Studios.

Rahman has been working on the project for a couple of years. The romantic musical film will feature newcomers Ehan Bhat, Edilsy Varghese and Tenzin Dalha.

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fauji’ maker dead at 87

New Delhi– The director who introduced Shah Rukh Khan with the television show “Fauji”, Colonel Raj Kapoor passed away at a hospital here, a family member said. He was 87.

He passed away on Wednesday night due to age-related issues, Ritambhara, one of his daughters, told IANS.

“My father died at 10.10 p.m. yesterday. He was in a hospital for sometime, but his death was very sudden. He was otherwise in good health… He went quite peacefully,” Ritambhara, one of his three daughters, said over phone.

A Facebook post from Kapoor’s family read: “This is to inform you that our beloved dad, Raj Kumar Kapoor, has left his earthly body to go on a brand new adventure.”

Kapoor was cremated here on Thursday.

Kishori Godbole to be seen in TV show ‘Mere Sai…’

Mumbai– Marathi actress Kishori Godbole has been roped in to play the role of Baija Maa in “Mere Sai – Shradha Aur Saburi”.

“My parents and I are strong believers of Sai Baba and when I was approached to play Baija Maa’s role in the show, I considered it to be Baba’s blessing. When the ‘Mere Sai’ team called me for an audition, I was overwhelmed and excited,” Kishori said in a statement.

“Baija Maa was a very strong woman and used to take a stand up for the right in that era and she had an unshakable faith in Sai and this is the common thread of devotion I share with her. Also, I have previously worked with Sachin Ambre, who is the director of the show. Collaborating with him again gives a different level of comfort and confidence.

“I am looking forward to do some wonderful work with the show and my character. With Baba’s blessings, I trust the audience is going to accept me as Baija Maa,” she added.

The show is aired on Sony Entertainment Television.

Sandeep Nahar wants to do reality TV show soon

Mumbai– “Kesari” actor Sandeep Nahar says he is keen to take up a reality television show.

“I have been a part of films and TV shows, but have not done even a single reality show. I really want to try my hand at that as well. Once I am offered a good one, I will definitely take it up,” Sandeep said in a statement.

The action-adventure genre is something he wants to explore.

“I want to do ‘Khatron Ke Khiladi’. I love watching that show and the stunts shown in it are super cool. Even while watching the show, I am constantly thinking if I will be able to do the stunt that they are showing,” he said.

What about “Bigg Boss”?

“I liked ‘Bigg Boss’ but now it has become a mess. In the previous seasons, contestants like Swami Om have spoiled the image of it. I can’t bear such things. I am not okay with people screaming and crying around me all the time. I love to watch ‘Bigg Boss’ but being in it is something that I am not cut for.” (IANS)
