Vaani Kapoor on doing comedy in ‘Badtameez Gill’: ‘A genre I haven’t explored much’

Mumbai– Actress Vaani Kapoor said that with her upcoming comedy film ‘Badtameez Gill’, she is exploring a genre that she hasn’t had the chance to dive into yet.

Vaani, who is heading to the UK for the second schedule of the film, said: “Our next schedule is in the UK, and I’m looking forward to an exciting filming experience.”

She said that the film, which is directed by Navjot Gulati, presents her in an all-new avatar.

“’Badtameez Gill’ presents me in a new avatar, which I’m really happy about. This project is significant for me and it means a lot that producers trust my acting abilities and are willing to support films with me in a leading role,” said the actress.

She added: “I’m committed to giving it my best and showcasing my range as an artist.”

Talking about the genre of the film, which also stars Aparshakti Khurana and Paresh Rawal, she said: “I’m also exploring a genre that I haven’t had the chance to dive into that much, which is both fun and challenging for me as an actor.”

Vaani is enjoying her work in ‘Badtameez Gill’.

“Comedy, especially family-friendly comedies that everyone can enjoy together, is a genre I love. I’m thoroughly enjoying shooting for Badtameez Gill.”

The film, which is being bankrolled by Nickky Bhagnani, Viicky Bhagnani, Vinay Aggarwal, Ankur Takrani and Akshad Ghone, has partly been shot in Bareilly.

Apart from ‘Badtameez Gill’, Vaani also has ‘Khel Khel Mein’ starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu and Ammy Virk. Then there is ‘Raid 2’ with actors Ajay Devgn and Rietish Deshmukh.

Vaani made her debut in Hindi cinema with the romantic comedy film Shuddh Desi Romance in 2013. The film also has late Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra. She was then seen in ‘Befikre’, ‘War’, ‘Bell Bottom’, ‘Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui’ and ‘Shamshera’.

Mrunal Thakur took less than a moment to say ‘yes’ for ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ cameo

Mumbai– Actress Mrunal Thakur, who made a special appearance in Nag Ashwin’s directorial ‘Kalki 2898 AD’, was quick to accept the offer to be part of the film, which stars Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.

“When I was approached for ‘Kalki,’ I didn’t even take a moment to say yes,” Mrunal said.

The actress has previously worked with the producers of the film — Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka Dutt in the film ‘Sita Ramam’, which turned out to be a box-office success.

“I have immense faith in producers Aswani Dutt, Swapna Dutt, and Priyanka. Our successful collaboration in ‘Sita Ramam’ made this an easy decision. And being part of this mammoth of a project and this absolute visionary filmmaking was something I knew I had to be part of,” she said.

Set in the post-apocalyptic world of 2898 AD, the film is inspired by Hindu scriptures. Released on June 27, the film is said to revolve around the modern-day avatar of Vishnu.

Talking about Mrunal, who started her career with her work on television shows such as ‘Mujhse Kuchh Kehti…Yeh Khamoshiyaan’ and ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, made her debut in cinema with Tabrez Noorani’s “Love Sonia” in 2018.

A year later she starred alongside Hrithik Roshan in the film ‘Super 30’ and ‘Batla House’ with John Abraham, both biographicals. She was appreciated for her work in the ‘Sita Ramam’ alongside Dulquer Salmaan.

She was last seen in the romantic action drama ‘The Family Star’ by Parasuram. It also stars Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. She will next be seen in ‘Pooja Meri Jaan’ directed by Navjot Gulati.

The film, which also stars Huma Qureshi and Vijay Raaz, reportedly tells the story of a girl named Pooja who is being stalked by an unidentified admirer.

Rakul drops intense strength training photos; says ‘struggle is very real’

Mumbai– Actress Rakul Preet Singh on Friday dropped pictures of herself working on her strength training, saying, ‘the struggle is very real, but so is the gain’.

Taking to Instagram, Rakul shared a string of pictures from the gym, wherein we can see her working out, wearing a black tank top, and matching leggings.

She can be seen pulling weights and stretching in the snaps.

Shelling fitness goals, the diva captioned the post: “The struggle is very real but so is the gain #workoutoftheday #fitnotskinny #strengthtraining”.

The post has garnered more than one lakh likes, and a heart from Sidharth Malhotra, and Ananya Panday.

A fan commented on the post and said: “Thalaivi”, another user wrote: “strong girl”.

Rakul debuted in 2009 with the Kannada film, ‘Gilli’, which was a remake of Selvaraghavan’s ‘7G Rainbow Colony’. The movie also marked the acting debut of actor Jaggesh’s sons– Gururaj and Yethiraj.

She then went on to feature in Telugu movies like ‘Keratam’, ‘Venkatadri Express’, ‘Rough’, ‘Loukyam’, ‘Current Theega’, ‘Bruce Lee’, ‘Nannaku Prematho’, ‘Dhruva’ and ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ among others.

Rakul also did Tamil films like ‘Thadaiyara Thaakka’, ‘Puthagam’, ‘Yennamo Yedho’, ‘Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru’, and ‘Boo’.

The Hindi films which starred Rakul are — ‘Yaariyan’, ‘Aiyaary’, ‘De De Pyaar De’, ‘Sardar Ka Grandson’, ‘Runway 34’, ‘Cuttputlli’, ‘Doctor G’, ‘Thank God’, and ‘Chhatriwali’.

She next has ‘Meri Patni Ka Remake’, and ‘Indian 2’ in the pipeline.

Rakul is married to actor-filmmaker Jackky Bhagnani. The duo tied the knot on February 21, 2024 in Goa.

Vicky, KJo, Tripti & Ammy amp up fashion quotient at ‘Bad Newz’ trailer launch

Mumbai– Mumbai was witness to a star-studded event as Bollywood celebrities gathered for the much-awaited trailer launch of ‘Bad Newz’, promising an evening brimming over with style, anticipation and glimpses of the upcoming comic caper.

Headlining the event was Vicky Kaushal, who caught the attention of guests with his new eyeball-grabbing hairdo. Dressed in a denim jacket, black pants and stylish black t-shirt, Kaushal set the tone for the evening with his cool sophistication.

Joining him was filmmaker Karan Johar, who’s also known for his impeccable sense of fashion. Johar donned a dark chocolate-hued jacket layered over with sleek black overalls, commanding the attention of shutterbugs with his trademark style and presence.

Triptii Dimri walked into the event in a jet blue-black dress embellished with glitter work. Her appearance added a touch of glamour and captured the essence of a Bollywood diva.

Ammy Virk, who headlines the Anand Tiwari film with Vicky Kaushal, brought his own charm to the occasion, dressed in a checkered coat paired effortlessly with denim jeans and a crisp white shirt. His ensemble reflected a blend of casual chic and sophistication, complementing the star-studded atmosphere.

Backed by a talented ensemble cast, the film is slated for a July 19 release.

Sonakshi Sinha has done well for herself, I wish her well, says Sonu Sood

Mumbai– Sonu Sood, well-known actor and humanitarian, has expressed admiration for Sonakshi Sinha‘s achievements and wished her well on her wedding to Zaheer Iqbal.

Sonu Sood, was interacting with the media during an event. When asked about her Dabangg co-star Sonakshi tying the knot with Zaheer Iqbal, he said: “Sonakshi Sinha got married, such an amazing thing, I wish her all the best, she made her debut with our film, and she has done very well for herself, I just want to wish a great life ahead.”

Having made his mark in acting, Sonu Sood will soon make his directorial debut with action film Fateh, which also stars Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead role.

When asked about the progress of the movie, Sonu Sood said: “We are editing the film, I am just coming from the editing, but all I can promise you that it will be the most special film for everyone.”

The film revolves around the complexities and challenges of cybercrime. The film will also showcase some breathtaking action sequences, which have been done under the supervision of Hollywood stunt expert Lee Whittaker.

The movie, produced by Shakti Sagar Productions and Zee Studios, has been shot across global locations including India, the US, Russia, and Poland.

Kareena Kapoor Khan shares ‘Italian selfie’ looking tidy in white

Mumbai– Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor Khan is currently enjoying her getaway with her husband Saif Ali Khan and even shared an “Italian selfie” from her vacation.

Kareena took to her Instagram stories, where she shared two pictures. In one image, the actress looks every inch a diva dressed in white, sunglasses and the wind ruffling her hair.

The second photograph showed Kareena standing in front of the mirror wearing a white bodysuit paired with sheer white pyjama. She completed her look with big dark sunglasses.

She captioned the image: “The Italian selfie”.

On Thursday, Kareena shared a string of images from the beach. One image even had her husband and actor Saif Ali Khan photobombing her picture.

She wrote: “For me it’s the one with the photobomber.”

Kareena and Saif met on the sets of the 2008 film “Tashan”. After four years of dating, in 2012 the couple, who are fondly called Saifeena by their fans, got married. They welcomed their first son Taimur Ali Khan in 2016. In 2021, Kareena gave birth to her second son Jeh.

On the professional front, Kareena was recently seen in the heist comedy film “Crew”. She starred alongside Tabu, Kriti Sanon, Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma. It tells the story of three hostesses, who dream of becoming rich and get involved in a gold smuggling operation leading to a series of comedic situations.

Kareena will also be seen in Rohit Shetty’s “Singham Again”, the fifth instalment of Rohit’s popular Cop Universe. It also stars Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.

She will also be seen in a crime thriller directed by Meghna Gulzar, whose latest release is “Sam Bahadur” starring Vicky Kaushal. The upcoming movie will reportedly be based on the Hyderabad rape case.

When Tabu helped Saiee Manjrekar prep for ‘Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha’ by ‘reading, rehearsing’ lines

Mumbai– Saiee M Manjrekar said that veteran star Tabu helped her by “reading and rehearsing” lines to prepare for her role in the upcoming film ‘Auron Mein Kaha Dum Tha’.

“I’m very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Tabu. She would help me prep for my character Vasu by reading and rehearsing my lines, so that I would get the tone and dialogue delivery right,” Saiee said.

The actress, who is the daughter of filmmaker-actor Mahesh Manjrekar, plays the younger version of Tabu’s character in the movie.

“My father has always said how in his opinion, Tabu is the best actress, and since my childhood, he’s said that if you want to learn acting sit and watch Tabu’s films,” added Saiee.

Saiee said that she has watched Tabu’s work growing up because her father Mahesh said she “is the actor I need to take inspiration from.”

“When you watch her there is so much to learn from her and I feel like I manifested it in some way,” said the actress.

Calling it a “dream come true” on working with the National Award-winning actress, Saiee said: “I’ve been taking cues and inspiration from Tabu ma’am and it has been a dream come true, especially since my father, Mahesh Manjrekar, has always admired her talent who worked in the critically acclaimed film ‘Astitva’, often praised her as the best actress of her generation.”

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film is a romantic thriller, which also stars Shantanu Maheshwari and Ajay Devgn.

Saiee, who has showcased her acting prowess in Hindi and Telugu films, made her acting debut in 2019 with ‘Dabangg 3’ starring Salman Khan. She was then seen in films such as ‘Ghani’, ‘Major’ and ‘Skanda’.

The 22-year-old actress has also featured in music videos such as ‘Manjha’ by Vishal Mishra and B Praak’s ‘Duniya’. (IANS)
