Sushmita was crowned Miss Universe on May 21, 1991 in Philippines. She was showered with love and congratulatory wishes by fans and loved ones including her boyfriend Roman Shawl.

Roman posted a photograph of Sushmita’s winning moment and captioned it: “Twenty five years of winning the universe.”

Sushmita thanked her fans by re-posting their messages on social media.

After winning the Miss Universe title at the age of 18, Sushmita made her foray into acting. She made her Bollywood debut with the 1996 film “Dastak” and later featured in movies like “Sirf Tum”, “Biwi No. 1” and “Main Hoo Na”.

Sushmita is also a single parent of two adopted daughters Renee and Alisah.

Talking about her journey as a star and mother, Sushmita had earlier told IANS: “It has its own difficulties to fight for who you are. It’s not an easy job, but you keep doing it for 25 years and it becomes a habit. And you are just accepted after that.”

Juhi Chawla on why her son can be an actor

London– Actress Juhi Chawla says her son Arjun is good at mimicking accents and that he is hilarious, so sometimes she feels that he can probably try his hand at acting.

Juhi is currently living out of a suitcase, swinging between Mumbai, Kolkata and the UK where her teenaged children are put up in a boarding school.

In times when star kids have a ready launch-pad for their Bollywood career to take off, Juhi has shared about her children’s interests.

“My small monkey Arjun has clearly told us, ‘Mom don’t even think about it’. With Jahnavi, I’m not so sure. Arjun is quite funny and good with mimicking accents. He’s actually hilarious, so I feel sometimes that he could maybe try,” Juhi said in a statement.

“Jahnavi is an avid reader. If there is anything she likes in this world, and if you ask her what she wants as a gift, it will be a book. She said she wanted to be a writer.

“Then she went through a phase where she said ‘Okay I want to be a model’. Tomorrow she might say ‘I want to be an actress’. Then she might say she wants to drop all this and do sports. I don’t know, but I have learnt one thing that you have to let your children do what they want,” she added.

Sandhya plays powerful, intimidating character in show

Mumbai– Actress Sandhya Mridul says she plays a very powerful and intimidating character — the strongest mother of the show “Mentalhood”.

The ALTBalaji’s upcoming web series, directed by Karishma Kohli, will take the audience on the “crazy ride” of motherhood.

Sandhya’s character of a mother, Ajo, is a perfectionist who is a supermom who will do anything to ensure that her children are perfect and will go to any length to make them achieve that perfection.

“She is the strongest mother of the show. She is a very powerful and intimidating character who most of the mothers are extremely scared of, except for Shilpa’s (actress Shilpa Shukla) character,” Sandhya said in a statement.

“So, she at many times borders on neurosis because of that perfection. In real life, I am also like that when I am at work. I am so passionate about what I do that I want to ensure that I do the best I can.

“Ajo has a very tough exterior but for those who know me, I am a complete softy inside,” she added.

“Mentalhood”, which also stars Karisma Kapoor, Shruti Seth, Tillotama Shome and Dino Morea, is set to release later this year.

“Dearest Amitabh Bachchanji, I am very honoured to be followed by you. You had been the first actor who inspired me to act in films right from my childhood! Thank you very much,” Adil tweeted on Tuesday morning.

Adil was last seen on screen in the web-series “Delhi Crime”.

Amitabh is currently shooting for “Chehre”, a thriller along with actor Emraan Hashmi. He will also be seen in fantasy adventure “Brahmastra” featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt in pivotal roles.

Will not be a part of cringe-worthy project: Tanuj Virwani

Mumbai– Actor Tanuj Virwani gives precedence to stories, but says he will not be part of a project which makes one cringe.

He was recently seen in an episode of VOOT’s “Fuh se Fantasy”. In the episode titled ‘Just Good Friends’, he features as Tahir who meets Leela (Madhurima Roy) and Kiara (Satarupa Pyne). The episode shows them having an intimate adventure.

“My funda before signing on any new project is not to be too judgmental about it — are there any bold scenes in it or is there any cringe worthy…. For me, story is king,” Tanuj said in a statement.

“There’s something about the casual air that the story had about these three characters, Tahir, Kiara and Leela, who don’t know about each other. They happen to meet by coincidence and strike a friendship with no right and wrongs. There is no expectation from each other and yet it flows so beautifully, in a very organic manner.

“They’ve not even exchanged numbers but heal each other. Even the fantasy is organic and emotional in nature. I would definitely not be a part of a cringe-worthy project that I wouldn’t like to see myself in. It was refreshing and we are in 2019, all we are portraying is what happens in real life.”

Talking about the experience of the shoot, he said: “It was a nice smooth happy shoot in Alibaug. Everyone was well-prepared…It was my holiday film. I got out of another show which was intense, so this was my holiday project.”
