Sonam Kapoor loves vintage, handmade clothing by local artisans

Mumbai– Actress Sonam Kapoor, who is known for her work in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, ‘Raanjhanaa’, ‘Neerja’, ‘Aisha’ and others, has strong affinity towards handmade clothing, and likes to buy items that are “made by local artisans, are vintage, and even resold.”

Sonam is one of the most influential voices in fashion globally and has attended the Cannes Film Festival as a fashion icon.

Elaborating on her purchasing habits with regard to fashion and clothing, the actress said: “To me, having a product with longevity is luxury. Back in the day, my mother and grandmother would preserve expensive saris in a mal mal (muslin) cloth, masterji (tailor) would create made-to-measure outfits, juttis (shoes) would be created to fit our feet. I’m also doing the same. So, you see, I grew up appreciating the value of personalisation and the handmade. This to me is true luxury. I consciously buy items that are made by local artisans, are vintage, and even resold.”

She further mentioned: “I haven’t bought anything that I haven’t worn multiple times. For me, everything that I buy needs to be wearable for several years. I don’t believe in wearing it once and then returning it unless I’m borrowing an outfit for an event.”

On the work front, Sonam has ‘Battle for Bittora’ in the pipeline.

Sonal Panvar on body shaming: ‘I feel it’s pretty bad’

Mumbai– Actress Sonal Panvar, who has been part of shows like ‘Woh Apna Sa’, ‘Piya Albela’ and currently seen in ‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’, shared her views on body shaming, adding that she feels extremely bad for everyone who experiences these insecurities.

Sonal said: “I feel extremely bad for everyone who experiences these insecurities. No matter how strong a human is, deep down it always leaves a mark when someone reminds them of the flaws they have. It’s very common these days to pass comments like ‘you gained weight’.”

“It’s okay to say that, but you should always realise when you are telling this you are reminding them of their journey of gaining weight, it could be very sensitive. You have no idea how it made them feel or how they are feeling right now. I have seen boys and men also dealing with the same insecurities,” she said.

The actress said: “They are also being told to have a gym freak body and to be in good shape, I feel it’s pretty bad. Any human is much more than how they look, there are a lot of things to discuss other than appearances.”

Sonal said: “We as a society and nation unavoidably look at the looks/appearance of a person. Even darker boys and girls are stared at and commented upon in schools, colleges, offices and even in the entertainment industry.

“I have no idea how they define beauty with the idea of being fair. Beauty is that we all are blessed with beautiful skin, different complexions, and textures, which should be appreciated because that’s the uniqueness,” she said.

‘Happu Ki Ultan Paltan’ airs on &TV.

When Rani Mukerji turned choreographer for SRK & Kajol for ‘Koi Mil Gaya’

Mumbai– Filmmaker Karan Johar has revealed that actress Rani Mukerji had turned choreographer for Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the iconic song ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ from the 1998 romantic drama ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’.

The movie stars SRK, Rani and Kajol in the lead, and is directed by KJo.

During a candid conversation in the chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’, host KJo opened up on the shooting of KKHH.

In the upcoming episode, Kajol and Rani will grace the controversial couch of the show.

Talking about this, Karan said: “Those were the days that none of us rehearsed right for the song and dance moves. There was no such thing as rehearsal hall, there was one and I think Rani was the only one, she was new and young, she went and rehearsed all the steps.”

“Now we are taking this top wide shot with Farah Khan in command, in control and it was the signature step of Koi Mil Gaya. Suddenly, cut happened and Kajol looked at Rani that time and said ‘What are you doing? Something wrong you are doing’,” he said.

KJo further said: “SRK also said ‘Kuch galat ho raha hai’. Loudly, barring from afar, Farah said, ‘She is the only one who is doing it right, you all are doing rubbish’. Then, immediately both SRK and Kajol went to Rani who had become the choreographer teaching them the step. It was hilarious.”

The show airs on Disney+ Hotstar. (IANS)
