Soha Ali Khan: We should have more films based on children

Actress Soha Ali Khan, who is the mother of a two-year-old daughter named Inaaya, feels there should be more films based on children in our country because the genre has an audience.

“In Hollywood, they have made films like ‘Baby’s Day Out’ and the ‘Harry Potter’ series where they show subjects that revolve around children, and children play lead roles in these films. But that doesn’t happen here (India). We have made films like ‘Chillar Party’ and ‘Taare Zameen Par’. I think we should make more films based on children because we have the audience. India is very young country. I think like we used to say there should be women in cinema, and now that has started to happen. I think people are going to start taking children seriously. I take my child very seriously,” said Soha, while interacting with the media at the launch of kid’s digital app along with actor Ashish Chaudhary.

Added Ashish: “The superhero movies produced by Disney, Marvel or DC are the highest-grossing films in international cinema. In India, everything is evolving, and evolution takes place at a slow pace. Nevertheless it does takes place.”

“I am eventually turning to production and everybody wants to attract the family audience since it is profitable. So, children films will happen. In today’s age, thankfully, content-based films are working, so I think soon we are going to see more children films being made in India,a said Ashish.

The film is an Indian remake of Tom Hanks’ 1994 classic “Forrest Gump”.

In the Hollywood film, there is a scene where Hanks’ character is sitting on a bench. It seems Aamir wants Shah Rukh and Salman for the scene.

“He is very keen to have a special appearance from the two. While Shah Rukh has agreed, Salman is yet to give his consent,” a source told BollywoodLife.

Aamir is playing the role of a Punjabi for which he has undergone a physical change.

Written by Atul Kulkarni, the film is helmed by “Secret Superstar” director Advait Chandan and will be produced by Viacom18 Studios and Aamir Khan Productions. The movie is slated to release during Christmas 2020.

The “Ek Veer Ki Ardaas…Veera” actress recently shot for a music video in the Maldives produced by Mohammed Nagaman Lateef.

“The Maldives was a really quick fun trip, anywhere we’d step, it was beautiful. I just loved looking at the sea and its colours. We saw three shades in a single view,” she said.

While she and Atul Anand feature in the video, the song has been sung by Nakash Aziz and Shefali Juneja.

“This is my first music video and I’ve enjoyed shooting for it in the Maldives,” said Digangana.

She has become a fan of music videos now.

“Music videos have more creativity. There is a lot of experimental freedom which, of course, lacks in a film as there is always a character sketch. We’ve kept it causal in this music video and I think that’s the beauty of it,” she said.

Meanwhile, the actor is involved in other projects too. “I’m doing a few south Indian films and there are plans of Hindi projects as well,” she shared.

He shared that he will be playing a character named Sunil Arora, who is a political science graduate and a virgin.

“The journey of the character begins at late 20s and goes on till early 40s. Since I am not a 40-year-old virgin, getting into the skin of character took some time. I worked on his mannerisms and how that transforms with age. Though he has an angst against people, he pretends to be cheery. On the surface, while he seems to be a simple person, he is a complex character within,” he said.
